Other prefer attending classes in a traditional classroom, which are often offered through community or technical colleges, in order to earn their certificates in medical transcription.

How Much Money Can a Medical Transcriptionist Earn?

The amount of money which can potentially be earned as a medical transcriptionist will vary according to where you get your job from. Though there are many jobs which are offered in medical offices or hospitals for medical transcriptionists which are often higher paying, it is more common for medical transcriptionists to work from home. You can often get a job through a local medical office or hospital which will allow you to complete your work at home.

The amount of money that a medical transcription earns tends to vary between about $11.00 and $20.00 an hour, depending on where you are employed. As with most jobs, you can also make the decision to work as a medical transcriptionist part-time or full-time.

Who is This Career Choice Not Recommended For?

There are a number of different qualities that you must have in order to succeed as a medical transcriptionist.

One of the most important qualities that you will need, especially if you plan on working from home, is the ability to sit for long periods of time without any type of distractions. If you are not a very good keyboardist, then a career in medical transcription is typically not recommended for you. If you are hard of hearing or you have poor vision, you also may find that you will have a hard time as a medical transcriptionist.
