Keyword generation tools are a great way to come up with popular keywords that you can use in your web sites content. Some are available for free while you will have to pay for others. Keyword generation is the first and most important step of the search engine optimization process. Your website, from the directory and file names to the title tags and page copy, needs to be built around the words and phrases you choose during keyword generation. Keyword generation is an exercise in marketing, you want to try and imagine what people looking for your products would search for. Generate a good list, and incorporate these words into every place that makes sense.

Google Trends is a great free keyword tool for predicting interest in keyword areas. Google Trends shows how often a search term is searched relative to the total search volume across various regions, and in various languages. Google Trends compares searches between two or more terms. Google Trends also has the ability to show how news related to the search term overlaid on the chart.

Google Trends is a Google Labs product, which means that it's still in an early stage of development. The data Google Trends produces may contain inaccuracies because of a variety of approximations that Trends makes use of. Google Trends offers some new information that could be groundbreaking for Internet marketers and marketing in general. Google Trends also shows how frequently topics have appeared in Google News stories, and in which geographic regions people have searched for them most.
