Tips On How To Choose The Flower Bouquet That Matches Your Special Event

By Gordon Webb

You have to be prepared for a sensual jolt before stepping into a flower shop for a bouquet, as the sheer diversity of bouquets offered for sale will confound you to the point of inaction. But as there are connotations and human events attached to every flower, the task of selecting the right flower for a specific occasion becomes simpler. If you know what meanings are conveyed by the different flowers, then you come down to a small set of flowers to choose from, and your choice becomes easy.

The concept of flowers reflecting states of mind has been around for a lot of years, with the Victorians believing in it more strongly than the people of other eras. While yellow roses symbolize love that has more friendly and platonic overtones, the red ones symbolize love that is genuine and passionate. Tulips and carnations too convey meanings and emotions according to their different colours.

On the event of marriage, guests are required to gift bouquets to the newly married couple. Buyers should remember the seasonal and thematic atmosphere of a marriage while buying bouquets for the purpose. For instance, spring flowers can be gifted at a springtime wedding, or a blend of red and white flowers can be presented at an elegant and traditional affair.

For birthdays and anniversaries, anything vibrant and cheerful is usually a good idea, and bouquets made of chrysanthemums, daisies and roses are the most popular for such occasion s. On the other hand, for an event like a graduation, you would want to go for flowers more subtle but still vibrant. A bunch or bouquet of lilies of diverse colours that render a fabulous visual contrast is an excellent option for the occasion.

Sombre flowers like white carnations are the most suitable for an event of bereavement, like the recent demise of a close acquaintance. By presenting a white bouquet or wreath you wish the soul of the deceased eternal peace. A sick person bound to his or her bed should be presented with a bunch of colourful tropical blooms, as such colours of vitality are seen as wishing for restoration of health and bringing the sick person back to his feet in no time.

You might suddenly think that picking the correct bouquet for an occasion is like walking through a minefield, but don't forget that a florist can always help you out if you are confused. Any good florist in Singapore will be happy to help the customer in picking the correct flowers for the event.
