Previously we discussed SEO basics and on-page optimisation. In this article, we're looking at the more crucial Off-Page optimisation. Think of it as appointing votes. If another site places a link to your site then that site has given you a vote of confidence. They're saying, "Look at them - they've got something interesting to say..."

A couple of main parts feature in this link. The URL of the page being pointed at - And secondly the keyword phrase (anchor text) that's high-lighted on the page to be clicked on. A 'vote' is then generated for an individual website page based on that keyword phrase. Put another way, a vote to drive this site up the SE pages for that particular search term.

It always works in this way. There's an irrevocable connection between the page pointed to and the anchor text. Or the process can't happen. The Search Engines use the anchor text as an explanation of what the page is all about. It's ESSENTIAL to understand this - Your site will only come up in searches it has anchor texts for.

So it becomes obvious why 'CLICK HERE to learn more' has no SEO value. We've done no more than give those two words our vote! Who thinks of typing in 'CLICK HERE' when they're doing a search? Not a soul!

That is why the anchor text is SO important. Because that's what controls the phrases you will rank for. And by the way, if you DO Google "Click Here" you will always find the Adobe Reader download site at the top. Is that an important term to Adobe? Of course not! But they're up at the top because the phrase "CLICK HERE to Download Adobe reader" features on so many websites.

In other words, the SE's use the anchor text phrase to cast a vote for a page. Which is very logical. SE's try to look for relevancy in the same way a real person would. The content of your page isn't necessarily relevant. For if the text that is pointing to your site says Blue Flowers, then that is what you will be listed for! That's how the 'voting system' works.

Obviously, a few other things come into it - Because the SE's also use the page title and wording of the page being pointed at to correlate the results. And many more factors too. (To give you an idea, the spread of the sites linking to yours, and their relevancy to your site).

The bottom line is - to SEO successfully takes a ton of back-links. If these back links come from a variety of sites and have well phrased anchor texts, then so much the better. The quality of a site counts too... A back-link from Microsoft.com or Adobe.com would be worth a lot more than a back-link from a local hardware store!

Picking the keyword phrases that you want to rate for is an art in itself. (And you should perform a lot of keyword and competitor research before putting any strategy into place.) The key really though is - What does an enquirer search for when they're looking for your products and services? Because that's it! The answers give you your exact keyword phrases.

And yet it's not a case of guesswork. The best results are sometimes quite unexpected. Individuals can be quite random in the way they express themselves. One person looking for a good night's sleep might type in "Orthopaedic beds" or "New Mattress". Yet 'more sleep please' could be someone else's first thought.

It's simply not worth relying on supposition. It can't be over-estimated how important it is to investigate, measure and test all the phrases to be used. How much visibility your site gets is absolutely dependent on this. Compare it to an entry in a physical printed Business Directory. You won't receive any calls if you're listed under an inappropriate heading. Search Engine Optimisation can only be effective with painstaking and detailed keyword research.

Just like attending meetings and presentations in a round table or in a conference room, there are certain things you need to do, particular etiquettes you need to practice and habits you have to avoid. If you get this right, web conferencing can do wonders for your business.

Do's

Plan Ahead

Prepare you presentation beforehand. Send the necessary materials through email or put them live online so that the attendees will be able to read them before the scheduled meeting and presentation.

Be Punctual

In normal meetings being on time is very important. Web conference is no different. Common sense will tell you that since you don't have to travel to go to the location of the meeting, there is no excuse for being late. It is also impolite to let others wait especially if you are the one who will give the presentation. Besides, all you have to do is to find an available internet connection to be at the meeting.

Location Location Location

Normal meetings are held on places where there is privacy and little or no destructions. This should also be the case for attendees of a web conference; more so if it is video and audio conference. Go to an office or a room where there are no movements (for video conference) and no noise (for audio conference) on the background. Movements and noise are very destructive; avoid them all the time.

Respect The Attendees

Avoid using wifi signal Wifi is good if you are out and you need emergency internet signal. But during a web conference meeting, try to steer away from it. Wifi can be very unstable that can disrupt the meeting. Avoid wifi signals at the airport, restaurant, park and even in coffee shops.

Avoid putting attendees on hold If you are in a meeting, make sure that your attention is completely there. Putting attendees on hold is rude. It interrupts the flow of the meeting and wastes the time of the participants. If in case you need to do something extremely important, excuse yourself instead of putting them on hold. Go back or reschedule the meeting if you are ready.

Web conferencing is great, especially for long distance communication. However, you must remember that face to face communication at times is best. In either case, use your best judgement to make the right choice... whether digital or traditional.

The Russia economy is growing and this is one of the biggest news stories considering the current economic climate in which we find ourselves. There are many who are convinced that the global recession is worse than the Great Depression and that this could go on for years to come. This is all speculation though and no-one seems to be sure, but it worries stock market beginners. What is certain though is that times are very tough indeed.

The year of 1989 marked the fall of the Berlin Wall and for many this was the first peak that they got inside of Russia. Up to then they were largely unaware of the country's history and culture and it seemed as if a whole new market had opened up.

The entrance of Russia into the global economy was quite dramatic and this was done in accordance with advice received from western economists. They did not agree with the gradual approach adopted by China and as it turned out, this was not a good option for Russia. Consequently, the country has had to struggle to get onto its feet.

The Russian government has worked hard to try and reverse this situation with a lot of emphasis placed on the diversification of the economy. This means that they are able to offer more alternatives to investors. It is thought that the mineral wealth could be a key ingredient in the recipe for success.

It is always best to ensure that you do not rely only on one economic activity and this is the main reason for the government's actions.

If they continue to get this right, then it should come as little surprise that the Russia economy is growing even at a time like this.
