How to Improve Your AdWords Quality Score

By Monica Martinez

Every AdWords campaign that you create has the potential to give you a high return on your investment - if you're focused on delivering relevant ads that convert. A higher Quality Score is Google's reward for well performing advertisements. So, below is some advice on how to increase your Quality Score.

Check Your Keywords: Many Adwords users tend to put in keywords that are relevant, but also so broad that they don't provide good results. When you have this kind of keyword, you'll generally get lots of impressions but few click-throughs, which means they're not performing well. You can see this with all kinds of keywords, whether they're broad or not. It's best to filter out any keywords that you see are producing a large number of impressions despite an unimpressive CTR. Adwords requires you to be very watchful about which keywords you're spending money on and what they're giving you in return.

Landing Pages Are Critical: A successful Google AdWords campaign is make up of many different things, especially the landing page, which is a critical element. Not only will your conversions go up thanks to your landing page but you will also save money on your campaign. How can this be done? A high quality score means a lower bid which leads to lower expenses. Simply keep in mind that the content of your ads needs to be perfectly matched to your landing page. You need your landing page to contain every important element and to be original and substantial. A higher level of relevancy and quality can be achieved by creating an "About Us" page and connecting it to your landing page. Google thinks "Privacy Policies" are important so you need to include a link to your landing page.

Know What's Going On: The PPC industry is continuously evolving and it is imperative that you are aware of any changes that might be taking place with AdWords. You need to know everything that's new so you can stay ahead of the crowd and one way to do that is to subscribe to forums, blogs, podcasts and newsletters. You need to be aware of all the latest AdWords information, especially if you will be working on your AdWords campaign by yourself. This information will prove helpful in increasing your conversion rate as well as lowering your costs per click. In the long run, all these factors will make for a better Quality Score.

Last but not least, you need to ensure that you are well aware of the quality rules Google imposes to make sure you are doing everything properly. Since Google doesn't keep quality data a secret, you should take advantage of the information they provide.
