Are You Using Email Marketing? Here's How

By John Miguel

Run multiple campaigns and tailor each one to specifically targeted groups. Tailoring your emails to a segment of your customers will ensure that the message gets across effectively. This article will help with personalization and customization.

Try and make all of your messages sound personal when you send out mass amounts of emails marketing. Customers will have a more positive response to these types of messages as opposed to those that are impersonal and bland. Messages that are sent from a President, CEO or other prominent figure of a company will leave a strong impression on customers.

Personalize your emails anyway you can, so that your subscribers feel your personal attention. Form letters will only earn you deleted messages and blocked addresses by your subscribers. It is very easy to add their first name to the message, but take additional steps. For instance, you should have information that tells you when and where a reader subscribed, as well as why they did so. Use this information in your message.

A follow-up email including an endorsement is a great idea. Let your customers know how they can benefit from your products or services. An order could be submitted by having a link available to click on.

Do not continuously insist that your subscribers "Buy Now." People can recognize this kind of approach easily. If you do so, your work looks like spam. They will know that you only care about selling services and products, you want to have a good relationship with them and be considered a professional. They will appreciate this a great deal and will be more likely to purchase from you.

If you provide a link to opt out in your emails, make sure that when people use that link, that you actually take them off the list as soon as possible. Continual emails to a customer who has opted out, may cause them to feel disrespected.

Your email should be on topic and succinct. Nobody will read more then a paragraph or two within your email marketing message. They don't have that much time nor are they extremely interested in what you're saying. Say what you want to say and let your readers go, and they will return to read your next message.

Ensure that you focus your email marketing plans on corresponding with special events and holidays. Plan out your entire year. Come up with campaigns that revolve around major retail holidays, including Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Days and any others that may be appropriate. It's also helpful to amp up your marketing efforts when business is slow in order to increase sales.

Create email lists organically. Do not purchase a list from a 3rd party. Most organic lists are built using sign up forms on business websites, but don't neglect other list-building opportunities such as trade shows and offline advertising. By doing things this way, your email list will better match contacts that are likely to result in returns.

Use these suggestions, and your knowledge of your target audience, to create fabulous marketing emails. What do you think they'd like to see? Think about what they would like to read. Find a way to encourage people to buy your products. The tips you've read here should provide you with many of the answers you seek!
