Trouble Cranking Out Blog Posts? 5 Ideas To Get You Started

By Jeff Berman

Writing a legal blog can take a lot of work. It is important that you are consistently posting new material to your blog. Coming up with ideas for that material can be tough. Here are 5 ideas to get the juices flowing:

1. Make a List - People surfing the web love a good list. They are short and easy to digest.

2. Reference good links - It's difficult to find the needles in the haystack that is the web. Your followers will appreciate a good set of helpful links to articles, resources, etc.

3. Write About A Story - There is nothing quite as interesting as a great story. Writing about an experience you had with a client or a personal life experience is great fodder for a blog post. It gives your blog an original voice and shows your human side.

4. Share Your Legal Knowledge - People have questions they want answers to. You obviously want to be cautious not to give legal advice, but sharing your knowledge and expertise can be a great way to establish yourself as a thought leader in your niche area of the law.

5. Read Legal Posts & Blogs - Staying up to date on other legal topics, blogs, posts, etc. is a great way to get ideas for your own blog. You can keep your finger on the pulse of the legal community and offer up articles that are of interest.

To write a good blog, and to do so consistently, is a challenging proposition. As a lawyer, you are busy with many things and your time is money. However, writing 2-3 posts a week will help you lawyer marketing tremendously. You will have a greater chance of being found by search engines and you will also help establish your online credibility.
