Saving Money on Marketing

By Alexander Calvin

Cutting back is the focus of most businesses these days, but with consumers cutting back also, it can be a difficult balance cutting back while still doing everything you can to keep your business flowing in the current economy. The following are some simple business advertising tips that can help build your business on a shoe string budget.

One way that you can advertise your company without even spending a dime is through talk. Have friends, employees, family members and yourself speak to others about your business. You can talk about what your business is about, the services you offer, your customer satisfaction and more. This tends to be a very effective form of advertising as people feel that you took time to stop and talk to them, making it a very personal experience.

A flyer campaign can also prove to be very successful for your business. This is a very simple and inexpensive task to complete, especially with all the fabulous computer programs, and numerous discount office supplies available. The computers you are working right now, are probably even equipment with a program that can assist you in generating a bold and memorable flyer. Once you create your flyer design, print them out on bold color pages and hang them up at local business, and community center. Many companies choice to print out their flyers on card stock, as it is thicker and more durable. Card stock can be found in most dollar stores these days, thanks to the scrapbook craze that has swept the nation.

PROMOTIONAL ITEMS: Promotional products provide your company with a resource that can serve as a relatively inexpensive means of getting your business information out in the public eye, and by passing items like promotional pens, bumper stickers and coffee mugs out to your customers you are not only allowing them to advertise for you, but you are also helping keep them as customers as well. Promotional products last and last, they travel far and wide, while not only reminding your customer about your business but also letting them know that you appreciate their business.

INVOLVE YOURSELF IN YOUR COMMUNITY: When you are doing business in a small community it is important to get out there and support local groups, attend community events, and even perform some community service. Doing this will give you and your business some good exposure as well as a good reputation in the community. This can do a lot to further your business venture.

So although "cut backs" has become one of the most common phrases, it does not mean you need to cut back on advertising. All you need is a little creativity and some good research and your business will be blossoming.
