In fact, these work opportunities are only likely to grow as there has been a significant rise in the demand of teacher assistants in the UK lately, especially in London. But also the grown demand for such workforce has resulted in higher wages as well, which may be a rewarding proposal given the modest standards for the job.

The teacher assistant has two main jobs to do. They have to assist the teacher in organizing teaching programs and schedules. They're also responsible for all the secretarial work teachers should have done from printing copies to providing materials for the certain class.

However the jobs taken by such professionals are not restricted to these duties. Occasionally, teacher assistants work as tutors teaching children and other students who are not literate or have weak numeracy and verbal skills generally and those who are looking to develop skills like learning a language.

The pay you get for working as a teacher assistant depends on your experience, qualification and recruiter. However, usually, teacher assistants in London are given Ј19,000 annually. With the best specialists in this area are even making about Ј30,000 per year, you can easily receive to the Ј23,000 mark.

Often, those individuals who do secretarial work mostly are often compensated less than those who teach students. Besides, the remuneration for part time job is also lower. Still, this should not keep you from getting such a position. This type of job experience is important for those applying for full time teaching positions and for those wishing to pursue a teaching career.

The modern growing tendency in the appearance of job perspectives for teacher assistants is for good reasons. Recent law, like the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 has resulted in the development of posts of teacher assistants in what are known as Title-1 schools, which are created for underprivileged children.

With more and more people immigrating to the UK nowadays, there has been a great need for tutors, as the immigrants had a lot of kids who wanted better education and to improve their English speaking skills. As such kids are eligible for full-time education, you can be sure that there will be a plenty of need for tutors.

But if you are frustrated by the idea that you may not become qualified as a teacher assistant, you may calm down since you can find a job with even modest qualification such as high school diploma. But, having personal computer, numeracy and communication skills are preferred for the positions.

Yet given the duties of teaching children from low income families and immigrants, the position of a teacher assistant may actually be one of significant responsibility. This has caused the demands of the position to become a bit more demanding, such as college or university education, while many prefer to employ a teacher assistant who is able to speak a foreign language.

When applying for a teacher assistant job be sure to prepare your CV and job cover letter depending on the requirements for the position and with those of the employer.
