Great Web Design For The Beginning Webmaster

By Doyle Milnor

As a web designer myself, I can say that learning as much as I could from experts was how I got started. I looked at their sites, checked out their code, and even borrowed from their designs. Today there is a great deal of information available to help you get into the game, and this article is a great place to start learning.

Avoid using background images and music if your website is going to have a professional purpose. There is a reason why the vast majority of websites on which business is conducted do not use either of these. These techniques are amateurish. Music in particular can also be extremely annoying! Having music screaming through a user's speakers immediately upon entering your website could leave the user with a feeling of being intruded. That user will surely leave and never come back. You can find out more about us on Zling Design.

To help you design a more professional looking site, do not include an image in the page background. A background image screams low quality site, plus these site usually take forever to load. When you are going for a more professional look, the last thing you want is your visitors waiting forever because images are still loading on your pages. You can find out more about us on Zling Design.

Make sure your business logo is well-designed and prominently on every page of your site. Your logo is a key component of your brand, and it should be one of the first things people see when they go to your website. If you can't come up with a good idea for a logo, there are design firms that will make you one at relatively low cost.

Try your best to make your site entertaining by putting graphics on your site. You want to do things like wrap texts around images so that your site doesn't look so bland. When you have content that looks like it took time to create people become interested in your site and come back for more.

Personalize your site. Your clients want to feel comfortable with you, so use testimonials from trusted customers, as well as photographs of people. Building trust with your customers is very important, so be sure to let them know you personally care about the product or service you are providing them.

Remember this when posting something important on your site: High and far-left. This is how people read, from left to right, so having the most important parts of your site located at the top of your site and on the left will ensure that your visitors see and read this before anything else on your website. Zling can help you to solve this issue.

Draw inspiration from other pages that you feel you can gain great influences from so that your site can become a piece of excellent work. You want to take in the things that you like from other sites and avoid adding in things that you don't like to make your site better than your competitions.

Avoid using frames. Most sites have abandoned frames on their own as better alternatives have become available, but there are still sites out there that are trapped in 1996. Alternatives to navigational frames include fixed-position navigation panels, having navigation in multiple areas (e.g. left and bottom) or simplifying page structure so that navigational links are never far away.

Do not use images for your background. When you think about some of the biggest websites on the Internet, they do not have images as backgrounds. When you use image backgrounds, you represent yourself as someone who is not well-versed in web designing. Images as backgrounds also cause your site to load slower, which can lead to user frustration.

Make sure you have a good idea about what types of pages you want to add to your website. Site design is only easy if you plan ahead thoroughly. If you need a contact page, a sales page, various landing pages, etc, make sure you add them all early on. You can always edit as needed as the site starts to take shape.

The knowledge you gained from this article is going to help you in your web design endeavors. Yet this information is only a portion of all that you can learn about web design, keep this in mind. Make sure you seek out new knowledge and you should have no difficulty towards designing well structured websites.
