Making Money Online Can Be Easy, Here's How

By Nick Lewis

All I ask is that you put these strategies to the test and when they prove profitable, visit my site to learn how a chance encounter at a bar in New York City took my business from barely afloat to profitable practically overnight.

Along the way to earning a few dollars per month, I have made many mistakes.

Getting past these road blocks was the best thing I ever did because passive money, no matter the amount, is the best type of income. Getting paid like clockwork every month for years into the future after doing something once is the best type of business, as you can imagine.

There is nothing better than this feeling of joy and excitement.

On the other hand, were I given the chance to re-start my business from scratch, doing a few things differently would certainly cause me to get to where I am today much quicker and with less effort.

That is precisely the topic of this article, destroying myths about making money through affiliate marketing and allowing you to achieve your goals in much less time than if you did not have these strategies. You will learn about the hurdles that I had to overcome and once that is laid out, you will learn the strategy that will change your Online business from rowing your boat upstream to easily floating downstream with the money current.

My introduction to Internet marketing came a few years ago when I wanted to have my family's restaurant website show up higher in the Google results pages and I was first introduced to SEO.

Being able to rank any website on the first page of Google was a valuable skill that I picked up.

Ranking for the wrong keywords was my biggest waste of time.

That was my first mistake... the wrong keywords.

Here's what I did. I wanted to learn how to bring in money with my SEO efforts so I invested in a training on Affiliate Marketing.

My second challenge had to do with my on-site strategy. My thinking was that a large site in which I published reviews of a myriad of products and services in an overarching niche was the best way to sell the most products.

After getting the website up to a couple hundred dollars per month it leveled off. It also took sustained effort to get the number of visitors per day up to where it is now.

This way of building an affiliate site is like an airplane taking off. Going down the runway and hitting the minimum speed and then getting up into the air takes over 90% of all energy used.

When the student is ready the teacher will appear, so they say. I was at a restaurant when I met a successful Internet Marketer who challenged everything I was doing online. I didn't know it at the time but this person had made eight figures in just about ten years by creating small one or two page websites.

That was an ah-ha moment for me.

I was creating and publishing content daily so that the search engines would trust me and this person had been getting sites on page one of Google in a week or two with a tiny fraction of the content?!

Come on!

The strategy that he was using and the thing that was missing from my business was getting, buying or registering domain names with the exact keyword that I wanted to rank for in them. Having the keyword puts you way ahead of the competition and will get you onto page one with less links and less content than you ever thought before.

A quarter!

Smaller sites that revolve around one product or service can become profitable and rank much quicker. If it doesn't work out, you didn't lose much.

What I learned didn't end there. If your domain name is made of keywords that people looking to buy are searching for, even if you don't get that many visitors to your website the ones that do show up are at the end of the buying process and one step away from buying the product you're promoting.

Isn't that better? Effortlessly swimming with the current as your website guests have money in hand and most of the search engine battle has already been won from day one by having the right kind of domain name.

Here's Exactly What to Do to Get There

Research to Find the Right Buying Keywords

Like we said earlier, you must find keywords that people are searching with the intent to buy.

Examples of the best buyer phrases include:

-The Service/Product Name

-Product Name Reviews

-The Specific Model #

-Name of Product Bonus

-Product Name Discount

-Inventor/Creator of the Product's Name

-Buy Service or Product Name

-Buy Followed by the Exact Model #

My rule of thumb is if the total monthly searches of all buyer keywords combined is greater than 1000 than you have a good chance of having a winner.

Exact match is the option inside the Google External Keyword tool that you must use with this rule of thumb. Broad is any time any of the words you type in are searched for in any order with any other combination of words mixed in... Phrase match means that the searcher is using your words in the same order but still may have additional words too... The Exact match is when the person is searching for only those words in the same exact order... Naturally, there won't be nearly as many Exact match results as the Phrase or Broad because the probability of someone searching for only those words in that order is always less.

For now just know that when you use the Google External Keyword tool, you want to check off Exact Match and uncheck the other in the left hand sidebar.

Nothing is for certain and this is just a rule of thumb. After doing this a few times and seeing what sells and what doesn't you will become excellent and keyword research and spotting winners when you see them.

Analyzing the Competition

Here are a few crucial questions to answer when looking at the top ten results for your chosen buyer keyword:

-Does the site have the keyword in the URL? Is it in the front or the back? Root domain or a sub-page of the website?

-How about the title of the website? Does that contain the key phrase?

-Is it in the description of the site?

-Is the keyword found in the H1 and H2 tags of the site?

This may seem like a different language to you at the moment but don't get caught up in that because you can easily find Internet Marketing tools and resources that can tell you all these factors with the push of a button.

The amount of external links pointing in to a site is of course important but the exciting point to remember is if you get/have a domain name with your keywords built in, the first spot in the search engine results is yours to defend!

That's how important and that's how big a role the first part of your URL plays in the way Google ranks sites right now and for the foreseeable future.

According to Brian Clark of Copyblogger,

"you can gain attention from people via search engines because Google trusts your content."

Having an exact match domain name makes Google trust that you are the most relevant to that keyword.

You follow?

Step 3. Find the closest available exact match domain name

Go to your nearest domain host and see if the buyer keyword for the product you want to promote is available in .com, .net or .org. My mentor (find out who that is on my website) seems to easily rank any of the three main extensions but they are in priority order.

The only bias I have is to avoid hyphenated domain names. I have never tested this so I just recently bought a two word product name domain with a hyphen in between to see if this commonly repeated theory is true.

Driving People to Your Site

Lastly, we need to get the search engines to your website so we need to build backlinks. We can do this by submitting videos to the video sharing sites like YouTube and Vimeo, writing and publishing articles to article directories like Ezine Articles and posting comments on industry forums and blogs. Remember to actually create a hyperlink on each document or in the description section back to your website.

Go thing is you probably won't need to build that many in order to start moving up the search engine results because you have the keywords in your domain, remember?

In Closing

The best part about using this exact match domain technique is you will be able to find out if your site will be profitable or not in much less time than with other methods. Keep your focus on the products, keywords and websites that have the best chance of bringing in profit for you.

Not every site you put up will bring in money. Some will make nothing, in fact. But, others will make you a little cash and a few will make a ton of money. Work with the law of averages and built more sites to increase the probability that you will create an extremely profitable, money generating website.

Here we went over potential money generating key phrases and the importance of having your keywords in your URL.
