How Does Your Employees Feel About Your Office Design?

By Jannet Ford

Careful interior designing of an office nowadays is critical as firms have to continually improve their efficiency. By using smart office design which has given due thought to an efficient and smooth workflow, companies are able to increase their productivity, and hence their profits.

A good office design takes into consideration a number of components including floor plan, furniture and IT equipment to create a pleasant work environment for the employees as well as the consumers. Each of these elements can affect workflow and efficiency, and hence they have a great impact on the performance of your company.

Having a proper workflow involves allowing streamlined and fast movement of both staff and merchandise. This implies that much emphasis needs to be laid upon the layout of the office so that it requires the least amount of time and energy to reach from one point to another. If the office has two or more levels, then having an elevator is a sensible decision by the employer. Further, the corridors should be adequately broad and must have carpets in order to prevent accidental falls.

Interaction is one of the primary aspects of workflow in a workplace, which means that there must be the least number of barriers between co-workers. One method of accomplishing this is to use cubicles in place of separate rooms. Even when you have to keep the rooms, they must have glass walls, symbolizing the absence of a barrier.

Teamwork has a critical role in the overall performance of a company. To give opportunities to staff for sharing ideas and keeping team members updated, you must have meeting rooms. Such rooms should have adequate space for seating a group and must have all the needed gadgets essential for modern meetings such as projectors, computers and intercoms.

Along with allocation and delivery of work, a proper workflow also takes care of the execution of work. Only a physically fit workforce can be productive and that is why ergonomics play an extremely important role in an office. You should hence make sure that the workstations follow a design which has been verified by an ergonomics expert. In this respect, more attention must be given to the design and heights of office chairs and tables.

If the office has an efficient workflow then it will make a huge difference to the performance of your company and will ensure the welfare of the staff. Therefore, it is prudent to patiently deliberate these matters in the designing the office.
