The Way To Properly Gain Friends On Your Work Place

By George Dodson

Since having to spend time to work in the office or workplace is much the same as the time spent at home, we can say that it the workplace is already a second home. It is inevitable that we build a good relationship with our co-workers which makes us close to them like families. Having someone you can trust and can rely on at work is one of the best things that can happen to you at work for it provides a ton of benefits. In this regard, it is really advisable that you earn a friend at work.

Among those many benefits of having friends at your work place is having someone handle excess workload or those tasks which you are unable to accomplish on time. Should you be dealing with emotional stresses, office friends or colleagues are also good listeners since it is possible that they are also dealing with the same problem as yours. With friends, you can also have someone check your performance thus they can also help you move up the ladder in your office. There are more advantages to having friends in the office. But before even thinking of these benefits, try to make one first - so how exactly do you make friends in the office or at your workplace?

Leave a good impression

First impressions last - a common saying that is so true with regards to meeting people for the first time and for them to remember you. This is the moment when you can leave a mark in the other person's mind so he or she can remember you. Now trying to make a good first impression is different from showing off. To leave a good first impression you need to make sure you're not doing something foolish or something that could ruin your reputation - you can try something funny, awkward or smart, just as long as it can gain positive results.

Give your name or nickname

As soon as you get to the introduction part, be sure to give your real name. Of course, by simply giving your name lets others remember you easily. Nicknames can also be a good option when your name is too long to memorize or may have a funny ring to it. Whenever creating a nickname for work, you just have to make sure it is easy to remember and really represents who you are.

Dine or lunch out with colleagues

Next tip is to NOT decline an invitation for lunch out or when someone invites you to eat. Lunch breaks or coffee breaks are the only times when you can socialize at work. When colleagues do invite you to one, be sure to say yes if you’re not too busy or occupied. This will leave a good impression to others and will let them know that you are really interested in getting to know other people and that you are approachable.

Share your thoughts with others

Friends share their thoughts, feelings and opinions - which is also a must for anyone looking for friends at work. Therefore, if you want people to like you or be friends with you, you will need to be open to them and let them think what’s on your mind. If you have the right conversation, tell them of what you like or dislike, hobbies, past experiences at work and others.
