Long Island Advertising Agencies: What Caused Myspace's Fall?

It's unfortunate when such a large name that people recognize sees a tremendous fall later on down the road. This has been the case for MySpace, a website that many will recognize as one of the first popular social networking sites in the world. It's one that Long Island advertising agencies will recognize, though not specifically for marketing purposes. As a matter of fact, it's the fall of this platform that, in my view, deserves a tremendous amount of attention.

It was in 2003 that MySpace was launched and to say that it drew interest would have been an understatement. I was only a middle school student when MySpace started to become popular and I could see why it did. Everyone's page could be customized based on their interests, and there seemed to be a focus on music that people got into as well. However, that was then; these days, it's rarely discussed in the same breath as bigger websites such as Twitter and Facebook.

How come MySpace saw such a decline, you may wonder? I believe that any Long Island advertising agency can tell you about the rise that other platforms have had, Facebook being perhaps one of the strongest that can be imagined. Once Facebook started to gain ground - I think this was around 2008 - MySpace's level of user engagement started to go down. Of course, this is just one of the causes that firms like fishbat could draw attention to.

If you want to talk about MySpace, as an overall platform, it's easy to see that music has been the focus for quite some time. However, it never truly branched out from that, which is a mistake that websites like Facebook and Twitter have learned from. Even though they were relatively simple when they were first created, different services were brought into the fold not long after. Even though MySpace is not entirely obsolete, as of now, I could only see it being largely used by newer musical artists who are simply looking to build their own audiences.

As you can clearly see, MySpace is not an entirely useless website; if it was, it would have been brought down a long time ago. However, I cannot see this being a larger marketing platform that Long Island advertising agencies, across the board, could take advantage of. There are simply so many other options to take up, each of them with potentially higher results to yield. MySpace, while popular at one time, has seen an unfortunate fall as well.
