Toronto Airsoft Games In The City

By Marcia Marks

Airsoft competitions are similar in many ways to paintball games, only more realistic and fun. They use special guns to fire plastic pellets at opponents. The competitions are usually played in teams and can be skirmishes, military simulations, organised scenarios or sniper games. There are also emulations of military situations, and even police and gangster emulations. There are several Toronto Airsoft clubs that residents of the city can join.

Many Airsoft games use the tactics that are commonly used in the military and there is usually a specific object for a team or individual to reach. Also, players typically use emulations of tactical equipment in order to achieve their objective. There is also a required level of safety in competitions and games and safety equipment is necessary. These include special safety goggles and a face mask to provide protection to the face. It is also important that player stick to a minimum firing distance so that the pellet does not cause their opponent any pain.

Ownership of Airsoft guns is legal in most countries, however some countries require that the guns are clearly marked so they are distinguishable from real firearms. Groups will usually set their own rules too, such as having a maximum velocity and shooting distance, usually safety equipment is provided and groups are extremely aware of player safety.

The guns used in the sport will be spring powered, electric powered or gas powered. The gas powered guns are considered the most accurate and realistic. They are able to fire multiple shots without the need to cock the gun. They are also more realistic to operate and have a kick that resembles that of a real gun.

Replica guns tend to be the most popular with fans of the sport. These guns are virtually the same as their real counterparts and include, World War 2 classic firearms, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, Al Capone style machine guns, police firearms and many others. These guns add a new level to the sport as fans can invent fun and exciting scenarios and highly accurate military simulations.

Typically, the guns used in these games fire white plastic pellets. The most common weight of these pellets is 0.20g and 0.25g depending on the gun. Heavier pellets are generally used for sniper rifles as they are less likely to be affected by the wind making them more accurate. They usually come in bottles that contain either 2000 or 5000 pellets. Most games use these plastic pellets, although foam balls are sometimes used for grenade launchers.

Many Airsoft rifles and pistol employ the Hopup system that creates better range. This is because the system puts backspin onto pellets when they are fired and makes them rise upwards slightly. Hopup can be adjusted for backspin, although the normal setting is usually fine for most players.

Airsoft is an incredibly fun and exciting sport that is increasing in popularity across the world. Those who live in Toronto will be able to find a group offering competitions and games in the city by searching for Toronto Airsoft on the internet. These groups can offer beginner level games, as well as intermediate and advanced levels.
