How Businesses Communicate: From Snail Mail to Texting.

By Nia Lawrence

The mobile phone is primarily created for you to receive calls anywhere. Short message sending was simply an extra feature but a good number of people would prefer sending text messages instead of calling. Due to a busy schedule that a lot of people have, they prefer to send messages to provide and short but sweet messages; it still is a really effective way to communicate.

Businesses use to rely on snail mail to send literature in the mail. To increase sales, discount coupons and catalogs would be sent in the mail. Pamphlets and flyers would be sent through mail as well. Credit card can inform their customers of credit transfers through literature. This can be costly. The paper, all that printing and, the mailing costs can too much expense. Until today, bills are still continually being sent through mail. A lot of customers would prefer it this way.

Compared to calling, texting is more cost efficient. People who prefer texting believe that the information they send are better understood. With all the things people think about, sometimes they could forget the things you say if you relay the information over the phone. People who receive your message can refer to this in case they need to. This would be great in relaying important information. This would allow you to speak direct to the point. No need for you to provide awkward intro and formalities.

Texting can also be courteous. Sometimes, the person you are texting might be caught in a meeting or in class. It can be embarrassing to receive a call in such situations. For callers, sometimes, leaving a message on the answering machine can feel awkward. A text would be a discreet way to inform them about your message. They can immediately reply to your message by the time they are free to send a response.

Many people love texting to save on credits; other people like how effective it can be in relaying information. This is effective for personal use and even business use. But most of all, it is a good way to communicate. Some people just love sending SMS better. It is entirely your preference.
