Forest Products For Fun And Profit

By Adriana Noton

When a person is questioned about things in a forest, the first thought that appears is trees. The next things are usually wild animals and beasts, bugs, and lakes. Some people may even think of secret caves. While these are smart replies, the woods is where materials many people use on a daily basis is derived from. Forest products play a large role in present-day life.

Paper and wood are the two most widely known uses of trees. Wood is used to build furniture, cooking utensils, picture frames, and much more. Paper is used in large quantities by schools, businesses, and private people. Without paper, there would not be any hard-back books or hand-written notes. It is easy to take these items for granted as they are available in large supplies; however, there are certain groups of people who are against using trees for so many products as it upsets the natural balance of the forest itself.

The list of items made from trees is exceedingly long. However, some trees are better for certain items. There is a tree called the Paper Birch tree, for example. This tree is good for things such as toys and cooking utensils. The Balsam Fir, however, is best for essential oils and musical instruments.

Successful businesses see the forest as a resource for creating things that are in demand. A good example of this is furniture. Until genuine wood can be grown in a laboratory, trees will continue to be cut-down to meet the demands of man.

Some of the more exciting things created from trees include ramps, chests, fences, and fancy doors. There are several fun items constructed from wood. Bunk beds are thrilling for kids of all ages, as are decorative signs and outdoor stages. Adults tend to gravitate toward docks and decks which are frequently built from wood.

Some businesses specialize in wood-based items. Such stores are visited by shoppers who want to add unique articles to their homes. They also tend to want to educate and enrich their children's life's with items that are reminiscent of a different time. Selling wood-crafted things can be highly profitable to stores that stay a float based on sales.

Specialized political groups make their views known to everyone regarding the harvesting of trees. While they have a right to their views and the right to express their opinions, businesses also have a right to make a profit from wood items which starts with the cutting of trees. Until wood can be created in a lab, trees will continue to be cut.

Forest products have contributed a lot to life. Wood and paper products have been used for ages without having caused a world-wide tree extinction. It is admirable to be respectful of the environment, and to plant new seeds in empty places. However, businesses still have the right to profit from wood-based products. People in general have the right to use paper products and wooden things without feeling bad. Wood is every bit as needed as water and coal as far as natural resources are concerned. If humanity in general is not greedy when it comes to the environment, there should be trees to last for generations to come.
