Mendocino County Arrest Records Online Database

By Claire Dowell

Records of Mendocino County Sheriff Arrests are maintained by the county's sheriff's office. The general public is given the right to access them, care of the Public Records Act of the State of California Government Code 6254. The office maintains a daily log of crime-related activities which they post on their website.

All arrests performed are properly documented, regardless if whether the person is put to prison or not. If there is enough evidence to support that the arrested person is guilty, the documents of the arrest will become permanent and will be open for public access. If the person is found innocent, the arrest document will remain away from the hands of the public. It shall, however, remain in the hands of the sheriff's office for future reference.

To begin a search, secure a request form at the office or download it from their official website. Supply it with all the required pieces of information and make sure that they are accurate because that will be vital in the success or failure of the search. Include your contact details and present any form of identification. There are fees that you have to pay for every transaction. A no refund policy is implemented regardless of the outcome of the search.

The state of Mendocino County allows its citizen to obtain their own arrest documents. If their document contains an error, the owner can request the sheriff's office to have it checked and make the proper corrections. The documents of other people can also be obtained but with the authorization of the court. Lawyers, law enforcers, employees, and landlords are amongst those who are authorized to obtain the documents of other people. If you do not belong to the aforementioned people, you must come up with a convincing reason why you want to get the documents. If the sheriff's office is not satisfied with your reason, they have the authority to deny you access.

Another way of obtaining arrest records is through an online search. There are online service providers that specialize in maintaining and providing such records to the public, with the consent of the government. There are many service providers out there and all will claim that they are legit providers of the records. Although there are some who are legit, not the same can be said of the others. Prior to choosing which service provider to use, list a short list of service providers you are considering of using and conduct a background check on them. Gather as much information as you can about them until you are convinced that they really are legit.

A mug shot is required when documenting arrests. However, it does not automatically mean that arrested people are guilty criminals because they are deemed innocent until proven guilty. California provides an avenue for looking up mugshots of arrested people through the California Mugshot Database. Pictures, names, address, date of birth, and other important details regarding individuals who got arrested are displayed for the public to see.
