Frankincense Oil Is A Real Treat For Any Care Routine

By Janine Hughes

Frankincense oils come from trees of the Burseraceae family. Frankincense oil is also called olibanum and is a sweet smelling resin that is used in perfumes and incense. Incense is an organism that produces a fragrant smoke when light. The term is of the matter and not of the smell that it produces.

It is an aromatic resin obtained from trees that are found in Africa and Asian, namely the Boswellia and B Carteri. The more common names for the Boswellia Serrata is the Indian Olibanum, Luban and Gond tree. The only parts that are used are from the bark and the resin which is obtained from the tree gum. The bark is a cooling and sweet tonic and is used for those that suffer from asthma and coughs. It is a natural antiseptic in nature and is an excellent source to be used as an anti-inflammatory and diuretic.

The resin is stripped from the hardy trees that have an appearance of being untidy and left to bleed out. Given time this resin will harden and is then referred to as tears. Each group will produce a different resin. Diverse soils and climates that they are found in can also cause the resin to vary even amongst the same kind of tree. In some instances these trees have been found to grow out of rock cropping and tend to have a spherical swelling on the trunk.

Each tree will start to make resin when they are about ten years old and tapping is done about three times each year. It is believed that the very first tapping produces the best tears as their aromatic contents are the highest. The Roman Catholic Church purchases their supply from Samolia where it is believed to be of the best quality.

Aromatherapy is considered an alternative medicine and uses plant oils as well as plant materials with aromatic substances. It helps to change ones reasoning, mental, physical wellbeing as well as helping to change mood swings. It is usually given through massage, inhalation, topical application and being immersed in water.

A great way to save is to use them in homemade toothpaste, deodorant as well as soaps. Each tub of homemade toothpaste does not contain glycerine or fluoride. Typically coconut oil is added which has an antibacterial property which will help to keep the mouth clean. Bentonite clay is used as a polish and has been used to promote the health of the digestive system. Then natural sea salt is added which leaves the mouth and teeth feeling very clean and smooth. A drop or two of peppermint oil is added for freshness.

It is commonly known as the product of Sanfoqi due to the fact that it was found in the remote forests in three Dashi countries. Once the trunks were notched it was allowed to harden and then transported by elephants. There it was loaded onto ships in exchange for other useful commodities.

The oil can be obtained over the internet or at the Young Living distillery in Oman. It is mostly used by those that are wishing to take their meditation and spiritual journey to another level. Generally the bottles come with 5ml in them and are unfortunately a bit difficult to find.
