The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The RFID Systems

By Clarissa Osborn

The remarkable technology of RFID systems or radio frequency identification is widely used in manufacturing, transportation sectors, defense and security, and in the healthcare industry. This system employs radio waves upon transferring the data from the electronic tags. This is practically attached to the object and could be detected beyond people's peripheral vision. Although this is recognized effective, some aspects of which are simply found not very much ideal. Here are some of the pros and cons of the program.

The RFID tag is recognized efficient. This is read through plastics, cardboard, and in the human body. It keeps up with moving objects and send information back to the readers. Hence, the human error is eliminated and the labor is potentially reduced.

These are pretty cost efficient. Apart from the fact that such program is more pricey than the conventional bar code system, a user will surely benefit from its efficacy and attain good return on investment.

These are also made to last longer than the conventional bar code programs. The tags are designed to contain probable damages as they are securely placed amidst an object and are embedded in plastics. The system, therefore, is potentially employed in harsh environments.

The very aspect that halts people from buying this system is the fact that is priced dearly. An active tag, especially, is too pricey because of its complexity. Issues on tag collision is another aspect that consumers consider.

This technology is also known to give rise to different security concerns. The fact that this is readable by high intensity antennas, fraud is becoming an issue of the program. Payment verification is a grave aspect which can be falsified.

RFID systems are excellent alternatives to the manual systems. Nonetheless, people should also take note that it pays a lot to be cautious in using the system. Read more about: rfid systems
