By Lelia Hall

When dressing, there are times when there is a need or an interest in us to put on extra garments. Just like when you happen to dress in a polo shirt with a low button, or if you are needed by the organization to wear your membership item, you will have to wear your designated or chosen pin. This is the function of a lapel pin.

But other than being a decoration, this item actually has a significant meaning when it comes to an organization. It may serve as an identification, membership, and recognition of position, affiliation, and rewards. So given these many purposes of the pin, you can find it customized. But if you want to have one for yourself, then you can avail a custom lapel pin.

Now in order to have this, you will have to look for a firm that provides the service. There are actually several of these which you can find. Now if you have already selected which it is, the next step would be to decide on your design. If you already have the plan, then just give it to the maker, and if you do not, then just look for ideas in brochures.

After that, the procedure will begin. Well this design is basically made into an animation by way of hand drawing and animation. Next to that, it would pass a light box where the evaluation of the item is done, and then when it gets approved, the mechanical sheet will then produce a blueprint for the design.

So starting from that here is a detailed step by step design of the endeavor. First, the molding will be done. This part is where the surface of the metal is formed out from the design. And then after that, the cutting of the outline will follow. Also, there might be additional cuttings to be performed depending of course on how complex the design is.

And then when that is done, attachments would follow. Here is where all other items would be put into the outline in order for it to show almost the finished product. So in this, the body would be shown. Further in the process, the plating would then be done. Now if you want a better quality for this, then the metal has to be soaked in the standard length of time.

And so what follows after that procedure is the coloring and the polishing. This is applied to the surface of the metal. Polishing is done for the purpose of making the pin shiny as well as smooth. While coloring is of course done to give a visual grandeur to the item. But this has to be done carefully so that defects would be avoided.

Now when all these procedures are finished, cleaning would then proceed. In this step, impurities and excess color are wiped away from the metal surfaces. So after this, you will see that the items are made clean. But the procedure is not through just yet. Baking would still need to ensue. That would be at approximately 450F for about fifteen minutes.

And the final touch is the coating of epoxy. This work endeavor is done to avoid cracking and fading of color. With this, a finished outcome would be produced. And with this, you will surely love your custom designed pin.
