What You Should Know About Belize Connection And The Country

By Gwen Lowe

Belize, located in Central America, has been a British crown colony since the 1800s. Since that time, the country has gradually moved toward independence, from being a representative government of England to a self-governing nation with its own ministerial system, and full independence in 1981. Today, the country is popular with tourists and retiree immigrants. The website Belize connection aims to share as much information as possible for businesses and visitors.

The country has nearly nine thousand square miles of land and a population of more than three hundred thousand as of 2013. This makes the lowest population density in all of Central America. The country has the second largest population growth rate in the region. There is an abundance of terrestrial land and many marine species in its diverse ecosystems.

There are more than three hundred thousand residents in the country including Mayans, East Indians, Mestizo, Arabs and Chinese. There are also many expatriates from Canada, the United States and Europe who choose to retire there because of the low cost of living and warm weather.

The Belize dollar is currently linked to the U. S. Dollar at a rate of 2 to 1, which makes the currency exchange very easy for visitors from the U. S. It also makes it easy for tourists to see how much things cost when they go shopping. Many hotels and tours list their prices in U. S. Dollars, while the restaurants and shops tend to list their goods in the local currency. Nearly all businesses accept the USD currency and travelers checks if a passport number or license number is written on the back of the check. Teller machines are also available across the country.

The country currently has the lowest population density of any nation in Central America, with only thirty-five people per square mile. It is known for its unique biodiversity and varied ecosystems, with swampy plain areas on the coast and hills and mountains in the south. Much of the land is still undeveloped and covered with forests. It has many jungles and wildlife reserves, along with many different varieties of flora and fauna. The country also has the largest cave system in Latin America.

The first people to settle in the land were the Mayans around the time 1500 B. C. The Mayans established many settlements there, and the pyramids that they built can still be seen today. The first Europeans came there in 1502 when Christopher Columbus sailed there during one of his voyages.

Terese Fegan, who is a native of Belize, created the website on her own. She explains that she got the idea when she was searching for something constructive to do while using various social media sites. The website was developed when more of her friends and associates began reaching out to her in social media.

The website was founded by Terese Fegan who was born there but resides with her husband in Florida. Although she works for the State of Florida as an Administrative Assistant in the Circuit Courts, Terese still considers herself to be entrepreneur. Her specialization is business advertising for Belizean businesses, in order to help these companies receive exposure in the global market. Her company also offers business referral services as well as social media consultations.
