Saving Money On Winter Heating

By Hedrick Lepsch

Get into the spirit of spring with matching colors. Splash them onto your walls, furniture, and dcor. Put them in your vases, in your wardrobe, and in your bathroom. Make spring an obvious influence on your interior decorating to shake off the remaining doom and gloom of winter. The spring colors include pale, light colors. These are your fuchsias, palace blues, salmons, vibrant greens, and lavenders.

The colors aren't often bright. You wouldn't expect to see neon pink, or bright purple in much of the dcor. Spring colors simply imitate the natural shades coming out in the trees, mountains, and vegetation. Open the windows to let the breeze and sunlight in.

Air leaks and places that lose heat regularly exist throughout the home and these areas of concern need to be addressed before any real money saving can happen. Doors and windows will be the first culprits to deal with when maximizing your home's effectiveness at retaining heat.

Precious, and expensive, purchased heated air will get suck out of the home through the doors and windows of the unit. A homeowner, tenant or landlord can fix this issue by installing weather stripping around the molding and base of the doors and windows in a home. Weather stripping is insulation that will seal a vast majority of the leaks surrounding window pains and door frames. Weather stripping will not, unfortunately, stop all wasteful leaking from a home.

The second room that could probably use a do over is the bathroom. Most of the time, the bathroom is so small that you simply go in and out as quickly as possible. However, this room can be a retreat where you can relax and enjoy pampering yourself. The number one way you can make your bathroom fancier is to add more space. When you have enough space you may want to consider a double sink, a bath tub, a shower, a Jacuzzi, a towel warmer, a television, and so forth. There are many things you can add to make your bathroom one of the most relaxing rooms in your house.

Birds also offer a wonderfully happy way to wake up in the morning. You can't help but cheerily open your eyes when the sun pores through the windows accompanied by the sound of nature's sweet melodies.

While you're working on bringing the birds in, start planting flowers and plants that will provide similar colors to the ones inside your house. Plants are in bloom now!

Let them add color and beauty to entice you outdoors throughout the coming weeks. You'll want to bring out a chair or sit in a swing with a good book for hours when you keep the yard fresh and growing.Drop by your nearest plant store and pick up a few of your favorite decoration pieces. Plant them in the garden this weekend and start spending more time outside.

With the home or apartment tightly secured from every possible leak of heated air, the unit will be able to stay warmer for longer. This will dramatically decrease the amount of money it will take to heat the home. These tips also apply to mobile homes, especially mobile homes in Utah. Utah winters can be brutal, so mobile homes in Utah need to be bolstered and protected from the winter chill.
