A hosted phone system is a way to downsize the physical call forwarding system in a company to save space and money. This is brilliant news for companies just starting out that have little funds to spend on their phone infrastructure. Many existing firms that currently have physical hardware to forward and hold calls have probably noticed the high costs associated to it. This is something that is only going downhill as prices go up and providers correct their costs to cover their own bills. Getting rid of the manned systems also means the staff can be better utilized elsewhere.

A hosted PBX is a digital form of what was used on landlines in busy call centers. It is programmed within the handset or computer software and functions exactly the same while costing much less. With old systems, inbound calls would be categorized by staff answering the phones and redirected as the operator saw fit. Even some of the more recent automated systems still required a person to be in charge of setting it up and maintaining the operations of it. There is no longer the need to have dedicated workers at the switchboard, as anyone can manage their own settings.

Using hosted systems allows a business to utilize less physical office space and cut costs. Depending on the system, most switchboards required their own space, with a need for regular maintenance and safety checks. The hosted IP PBX is completely virtual, so it does not take up space in the office. It allows complete customization of the inbound and dialing system without the complicated setup or investment in hardware. Most phones even come ready with guides to help with getting them installed.

Customer and employee communication is what helps a business stay in operation. Any interruption to this can be harmful to the product and the business reputation. A hosting service is a good choice, because it offers better exchange software and more security.
