Learning About How To Get Paid To Take Surveys And Questionnaires

By Sam Mason

The choices for making money over the internet seem endless, but upon closer inspection, many of the so-called opportunities are actually scams. A possible legitimate option for some people is to get paid to take surveys, however.

Offering a survey or two is beneficial to a company trying to sell a product because it tells them where it would be most effective to spend their advertising dollars. In most cases, these companies contract with a company that specializes in offering internet questionnaires, which is how people access them and get paid. A prize or cash is offered to attract participants.

The information that a company gathers by offering questionnaires is valuable to them in many ways. They can decide where to focus their advertising dollars, and what types of campaigns are most likely to be successful. A bit of money spent in order to find out this information is well worth the increased revenue that a properly-targeted ad campaign will offer.

For the people taking the questionnaires, the situation isn't quite as simple. In order to receive payment for each survey, you must meet the criteria that the advertising company specifies. This might include your age, race, sex, occupation, income, or other information. Participants are pre-screened in this manner because the information gathered is only valuable so long as it pertains to the right group of people-- young men generally have a different opinion about what they want in a product from older women, for example.

Multiple internet companies offer the option to complete questionnaires for prizes. However, each site usually only has a few limited offerings at any point in time. This means that making any kind of money requires having accounts at multiple sites. To manage these accounts, people have created both paid and free software options that organize and memorize account information for you and enter it automatically. This makes having multiple accounts much easier to deal with.

When you sign up with a site, be sure to check on their prizes. Some sites offer a certain amount of money or a specific prize to each participant in the survey. Others work on a lottery system, offering a more expensive prize, but only to a few of the people who complete the questionnaire. Whether the prize is an object or cash can be important to some people, so pay attention to how you will be compensated.

Don't expect to get rich with this method. At most times, there are simply not enough opportunities out there that you will meet the requirements of. People who intend to quit their day jobs and get paid to take surveys are usually sorely disappointed by the reality of the situation. But a lot of people make a bit of extra income to supplement their regular jobs, by taking these questionnaires.

Survey-taking is a legitimate opportunity for people to make a bit of extra cash, because the information gathered benefits advertisers. It isn't going to make you rich, so don't quit you day job just yet. And you'll probably need to sign up for more than one site in order to be successful, since there are strict eligibility requirements for each questionnaire.
