How to Correctly Grind the Stump of a Tree

By Greg Wilkins

How to effectively grind a tree stump the correct way with a stump grinder. Stump grinding machines do come available in different sizes, and the tinier units can be placed on one's back, as they go up a hill or slope to cut down tree stumps that are small to medium in size. You can usually rent a medium stump grinder from a rental yard store near you. There are large machines that takes up more space and cost more, but are efficient. There are videos on YouTube that show huge machines that can blow you away.

Assuming you will do this yourself, you can borrow an industry 13hp stump grind unit. A carbide toothed circular blade is featured on the front side of the machine. These teeth are quite hard, so if you want to try grinding them down yourself, you must obtain a green grinding wheel. One thing you have to worry about occurring is the tooth may fall out, and I own 2 stump grinding devices, with a tiny part time stump grinding company in San Diego. I can tell you all about the damage a stump grinding tooth can do if it dislodges from the machine.

There is a metal guard over the machine. The straight tooth shot through the metal creating a perfectly square hole with protruding metal. Ensure the teeth are completely secured. Make sure to check for loose teeth; it is optimal to tighten each one in the event they are a rental, the fellow at the store may not be the smartest person, so you should take this on yourself, the extraction of the teeth is the most dangerous part. One of the most problematic things is small stones or pebbles If the dirt your stump is in has small rocks; you should try to dig out as many of the rocks as you can, before you start.

It would be advisable to barricade your work space with plywood, in order to prevent rocks or small chips from flying out and possibly damaging anything nearby, in particular windows or delicate items. The majority of cities have a phone number that you are able to call if you desire to dig in your yard. Most stupefy grinding ordinarily goes feather most 6 inches below the evaluation, so you can put in your tangible, sod, new marijuana, mulch, new tract, or whatever, and the machines can go plume deeper than that, but the many deeper, the much harder to interact the organization.

After you have your machine in front of the tree stump, set the blade on the tree stump, and make sure the wheel is off of the tree stump, and start your machine, every machine varies, a few will be self propelled, some with brakes, some with various things. One particular tree stump grinding machine I've got is perfect for going up near the residence or fencing, and getting it to the side, without striking things.
