Information On How Many Americans Are Unemployed

By Amy Peterson

With the US having a new president top of his agenda is to deal with trade issues and give people jobs. The rate of people without jobs in the US keep rising and falling and this issue has not been stabilized for a long time. A lot of people wonder how many Americans are unemployed and if it is because they have chosen to or circumstances have forced them.

To make sure that the economy grows and jobs are created there are many things that need to be tackled. People taking the statistics need to stop focusing on the numbers and concentrate on the reasons. The number of adults in the market are fewer as many have decided to take care of their families. Youths on the other side have decided to study instead.

These youths have turned to studying because they have given up on looking for a job because they are not readily available. This category however not only contain youths but also older ones who are dissatisfied with their jobs trying to look for a better place. They end up being termed as dropouts because it gets to a point that they stop looking.

Most people do not have jobs because the opportunities available for them are weak therefore they choose to not to work and not to look for a job. These people are classified as the missing workers and make up the biggest number of individuals without jobs. They do not have a job and make the least effort in moving out of their cocoon.

This category make the largest percentage and in categorizing them one should look at the age and gender to get specific percentage. The huge pool of persons in this category shows the weakness of job opportunities which in return weakens the economic growth. It is a strong group that would affect the rate at which economic levels improve.

People who contribute greatly to creation of jobs are those with personal businesses however they are the same ones being pushed out of the business. People with the part time jobs also are somehow counted as those without jobs. If they were given an opportunity to work on full time basis they would definitely go for it.

There is that group of people that has been looking for jobs for way too long and have been termed as long term jobless people. By long term it means a person who has been looking for a job without succeeding for over one year. Most people in this category are the people in the middle class. They end up not moving forward thus the economy remains stagnant.

At the end of the day the government has the interest of their people at heart meaning giving the exact numbers of jobless people can be difficult. This is an issue that cuts across people of all ages who are actively looking for jobs. It is a question of what can be done to curb this growth and make sure that the economy of the country is strengthened.
