The individuals should determine first if there are already coatings on the surfaces. There are some types of coatings that are not suitable substrates for these products. They can do tests to determine previous coatings. One test involves the use of one part muriatic acid to four parts water. They can then drip these mixtures to various areas. Yellow stains mean that there are no coatings present.

Oil and grease stains should also be looked for. The stains can come from different sources, such as automobiles. These stains should be removed before epoxy will be applied. Industrial degreasers can be used for their removal. Tire residue should also be searched for and removed. These should be sanded or grounded off.

The homeowner should be etching the floor with a masonry cleaner. A kit will typically be having a cleaner inside and the person should be following the instructions for use. He might have to be utilizing a brush in this case. This process is important for the pores of the concrete to be opening up and allowing the paints to be sticking properly to them.

They should scrub the areas until they get foamy reactions from them. Once they complete the entire floors, they should rinse them well and broom out excess water.

The owner should be letting the area dry completely. He should be allocating a week to ten days in this case. This way, he could see to it that moisture will not be existing in the site.
