Commercial Fire Systems Can Save Your Business

By Mark Mahaffey

This may shock you, but the National Fire Protection Association reported that there were greater than one million fires in the United States in 2011. Hundreds of people were hurt and killed because of these fires. Because of these statistics, you would be wise to do what you can do increase the fire security in your business by putting in a commercial fire system.

But in order to have an excellent commercial fire system, you need to make sure you have specific components. For instance, there needs to be a method of alerting people to the presence of fire. You can do this with strobe lights (for deaf people) and loud sirens (for those people who can hear). The bottom line is that you need to make way for people to learn about the fire and get out fast.

But there is more to excellent commercial fire security than just knowing a fire has started. It is also helpful to know where the fire is, so that when the fire department arrives, they can do their job more quickly and efficiently. You can install technology in your business that does just this - it tells you where the fire is.

You will also need to make sure that your smoke detectors and heat detectors are new and up to date. Do not rely on old models. The new ones can now tell the difference between smoke, dust and steam. This is a great way of reducing the risks of false alarms, which can be irritating both to the fire department and to the people who live around the business.

Another smart idea is to install sprinkler systems in your building. Fire detectors are great, but they do not help to put out the fire. Sprinkler systems can slow the spread of fire and make the fire fighter's job easier when they get there.

So, as you make plans and preparations to install commercial fire systems in your business. Keep in mind these tips so that you and your employees are as safe as you can be in your business.
