How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs Menace

By Anthony Cook

Bed bugs in homes are a big problem for the occupants. These little nasty creatures thrive on the blood from warm blooded animals and if they can't find a human host they could settle for even a cat or dog. To confront this problem, one must adopt foolproof pest control measures.

Travellers often get bed bugs with them to a new place where they multiply rapidly and start affecting the residents of the home. They infest beds, furniture, carpets and all such items where they can find holes and gaps.

Quite a lot of people harbour the wrong notion that bed bugs like places that are unclean. It must be remembered that blood and not trash is what attracts these bugs and thus a clean house is not enough to get rid of them. However, keeping the surroundings sanitized and dirt free can aid in easy spotting of these bugs.

Another myth about bed bugs is that they are too small to be seen with naked eyes. The truth is that these creatures can be seen without any help but it is hard to locate them because their flat bodies permit them to slide into tiny crevices and layers of cloth with effortless ease.

Bed bugs bite. They can survive long without feeding - up to 6 months or a year.

Bed bugs in homes are best taken care of by experienced pest controllers, so it is advisable to hire the services of such experts. However, there are some home remedies also to control their threat such as laundering bed sheets, carpets and other cloths in hot water and then exposing them to the sun. Crevices in the walls should be filled with a sealant, and any furniture item that has holes must be got rid of as they can turn into potential habitats for these pests.
