Make More Money For A Good Cause With School Fund Raising

By Troy Jones

Did you know that school fund raising brings big business to many companies? Speaking in general, schools prepare for fund raising events by buying considerable amounts of supplies. Since the schools are buying products in bulk, this would allow them to take advantage of handsome discounts that could save lots of money. School fund raising is also becoming an important part of school life because it offers schools different ways of getting the money they need for equipment and trips.

Schools are always looking to cook up a new idea for a fundraising. They have to be creative to come up with unique ideas so that people will attend the fundraiser and contribute to the cause. While it is technically possible to organize school fund raising events just about any time of the year, there are certain holidays or seasons that are easier to conceptualize than others.

Probably the best example is Halloween, a holiday that inspires so many fund raising ideas for schools, including haunted houses and costume parties. Manpower is very important in organizing this type of school fundraiser - the costume dance, in particular, is best organized in the high school setting. An elementary school fund raiser worth considering would be a simple Halloween party with games and costumes, and the ubiquitous tradition of trick-or-treating.

A good number of times, school fundraising is about selling different items and bric-a-bracs that are either ornamental or mandatory, or selling food for kids and their parents. For the Easter holidays, selling chocolates and Easter eggs is quite a popular school fundraiser. Most schools would take orders in bulk, instead of buying store-bought chocolate at a considerably larger price and hoping they earn a profit. The company in charge of supplying the chocolate for the schools would allow them to purchase for the fundraiser at a discounted rate, alongside with different offers assuming you buy so much from them. They can even be in charge of prizes assuming the school wants to hold a contest for the highest seller.

The read-a-thon is a special school fundraising event that is functional in so many ways. Not only do schoolchildren enjoy books on a larger scale through this event, parents appreciate the fact that this event raises funds for other educational activities or programs. Students really get into this type of fundraiser as they compete with the other classes in the school. And to further inspire success, the principal might let his hair down - literally - and shave his head if the fundraiser becomes a huge smash as expected!

So what are you waiting for - brew a pot of hot fundraiser and make it work!
