Designing For A Golf Course Construction In The Backyard

By John Green

Golf courses are types of grounds which are being made specifically for golf game. The grounds usually are composed of several holes. Each of the hole is consist of a teeing ground, green, fairway, and some hazards such as the rough. The green contains a flag stick or a pin and as well as hole cup. The standard number of holes in golf game is 18.

Usually, courses are following those original landscapes that are being used since before, but some of the grounds have been modified. For some cases, courses are also built on those lesser optimal type of lands. If you are really obsessed on the sport and you are wishing to design one in your own backyard, try following these simple steps for golf course construction.

The first thing that you have to do is thinking on the space and time amounts that will be utilized. To design the course may be difficult. For sure, there are many ideas that would come out into you mind and you may be doubting some of it. Have some references for you to be guided. So after making the decision and once you have started the plan, you should be able to maintain it because if ever it is complex, you will have a hard time on tearing it down.

Start thinking on the equipment to be used. Two primary equipment that you need to have are the pitching wedge or the sand wedge and also a putter. These are the two types of golf club that you can only use at the backyard. You may also need to have multiple balls. Acquiring a grass mower is also helpful to easily maintain the grass, making it nice and short.

Then after, you decide on the ground type that you will be using for your course. If the land you own has a very large area and you wanted to spend time to maintain it by yourself, a par four or a par five type is suggested. For backyards that only have average sizes, a par three type is fine. Be sure that when designing the lands, it must have flat surfaces and must have less bumps, which means it do not contain any hills and slopes.

Mow the fairways. It is suggested that mowing each row will be done alternately to be able to achieve the striped style neatly, and through this, having real fairways can be achieved as well. Usually, the mowing process takes 3 to 4 days but it will depend on the size of the backyard.

Start to mow the green. Before you start to mow the green, make sure that the blades of mower are set to the lowest setting so that the grass will be cut short neatly. Make sure that the green is placed on a surface of the background having the flattest land area. A good recommendation is do the mowing of green every 2 days.

Create either two or three sand traps or some hazards. These materials can be purchased from hardware stores in the nearby places. Sand traps are positioned alongside the fairways and alongside, front, or behind the green.

And lastly is to maintain the course. Real courses are maintained by hired crews. And because you will not need to mow the areas every day, just spare about 15 up to 20 minutes from your time to do the checking.
