Employment Companies Are Useful In The Current Job Market

By Shelly Peterson

Regardless of what you hear about unemployment in the news, there is no shortage of employment opportunities in America today. Job hunters who continue to use the same methods used twenty years ago are not likely to be successful in their search. In the highly competitive employment market of today, you need an agent to find a job. There are several types of employment companies that can help you find the the perfect job.

Employment agencies, which are sometimes called staffing agencies, are a good place to start for job hunters seeking entry level or mid level positions. Employers with a large number of employees are constantly in the process of trying to fill vacant positions. Many of the larger companies use staffing agencies exclusively to fill vacancies. The agencies take on work that would have to be done by their staff in human resources

To apply at an employment agency, you will need to provide two valid forms of identification deemed acceptable by the Department of Immigration. The agency will ask you to sign an authorization for a background check. There will be multiple forms for you to complete and sign before you can register with the agency. This is a tremendous amount of paper work that would tie up the human resources department and keep them for other important work. Employers appreciate that applicants referred to them by an agency have been well vetted.

If your experience and skills are at the executive or managerial levels, a headhunting firm would suit you better than a staffing agency. Headhunters are also called recruitment agencies. Employers who agree to hire through a recruitment agency do so with a financial commitment. When an applicant referred by a recruitment agency is hired, the employer will pay the agency a finders fee which can be as much as thirty percent of the annual salary the new employee will earn.

The process of signing with a recruitment agency is not unlike applying for a job. You will be interviewed and scrutinized as if they were going to hire you. The agency will not take you on unless they believe you will represent them well. Recruitment agencies are serious about finding jobs for their clients, so be prepared for upcoming interviews.

Some headhunter agencies focus on a niche area. For example, they may only represent physicians, or artists or engineers. This is an elite level of employment agencies and only the highly qualified need apply to them for representation.

The concept of movie stars being represented by agents is familiar to most people. Movie stars need a quality agent to find jobs, and agents only want to represent quality stars who will get cast in movies or television roles. Both parties need each other. A recruitment agency is based on the same principle. To be accepted by a respected recruitment agency, you must impress them with your skills and experience. Once accepted, there is a good chance of landing that dream job.

Global staffing agencies are another option. These agencies represent all skill levels, from entry to executive. Fortune 100 companies use them regularly. With global services they represent unique employment opportunities. People who are looking to relocate to another state or another country should register with this type of employment agency.

Global staffing agencies are big companies with world wide connections. They pride themselves on making things happen. One global agency reports that they find one of their clients a job every thirty three seconds, and they make half a million job connections every year. Sometimes global agencies fill a lot of temporary positions. People can be so litigious these days that employers want to get to know you before hiring on a permanent basis. When a temporary employee performs well they usually are successful at transitioning to a permanent position.

Temporary positions can represent excellent opportunities. They give employees a chance to shine. They give employers a chance to see how the employee can fit into the company. If either one of the parties is not fully satisfied with the temporary position, the employee can move on without any fear of negative consequences for future employment.

There is every reason to be optimistic about your chances of finding that ideal job. With the right agent you are sure to achieve your goals. New employment means new beginnings. Growth in your professional life is always a good thing.
