Serving Juarez Orphans In Santa Teresa

By Deborah Price

Whether an individual lives in the United States, Mexico or other countries, immigration is often difficult. While many non-documented immigrants are being deported, orphanages in Santa Teresa, New Mexico are serving Juarez orphans seeking an adoptive family.

Being a point of entry, this small New Mexico town sees a lot of traffic. From commercial and non-commercial vehicles to pedestrians crossing the border, it has rapidly become one of the busiest small towns in the state. As the port is one of the fastest growing and busiest in the area, it has become popular with legal and illegal immigrants. While this is the case, it is important to note that those caught attempting to cross illegally are often reverted back to Mexico or other countries of origin. Whereas, others are held at a local American or Mexican border detention facility.

For those entering the U. S. Legally, Mexican travelers often discover that the point of entry provides more convenient and rapid access than the border crossing in El Paso, Texas. For others, it can still be a dangerous crossing, especially for those attempting to cross illegally. If caught, individuals are generally re-directed back toward Mexico, or held at a local detention center for processing.

There are many different services available at this point of entry. These include commercial and non-commercial traffic inspections and processing, pedestrian walkways, custom brokers and livestock crossings. Individuals desiring to export vehicles can also obtain permits at this port.

The port is open daily to commercial, non-commercial, private or rented vehicles and pedestrians. Like with the United States and other countries, driving rules and regulations often differ between commercial and non-commercial vehicles. When crossing the border with a rented vehicle, it is always best to have the car detailed before leaving the United States. Otherwise, previous drivers or passengers could have left drugs or other items which can cause problems at the border patrol.

When looking to resale a used commercial or non-commercial vehicle, Santa Teresa is the only port which can process these vehicles for resale. While often more convenient and faster than entering in El Paso, Texas, if there are cars for resale, or herds of cattle moving through the crossing, it can often take longer than usual. Still, in most cases, the process will be faster than waiting in the long lines at the infamous Texas border crossing.

When it comes to aircraft, the local customs and border protection agents control international operations at the nearby county airport. After which, aircraft can then proceed to the United States or Mexico. The border agents also oversee foreign trade. In doing so, the agents are looking for all legal and illegal items being imported or exported whether from, or to other countries.

When interested in adopting a child from a Santa Teresa orphanage, it is important to go through proper channels. In most cases, it is advised that those wishing to adopt a child work with attorneys in Mexico and the United States. If the child is a United States citizen, having only relocated to America from Mexico, then generally the potential parents need only hire an attorney in the United States who focuses on family law.
