Feels Like Home In Diaspora Support Services For Kenyans

By Jennifer Scott

People live to coexist. Race should never be an issue. Where you came from should not be the basis of your right to freedom. Or your access to the services that a government offers. But society does not think so. Especially if you are in a country vulnerable to having a dysfunctional immigration system. Not that you cannot make the most out of any situation.

It is a good thing that the legal system can make it easier for you. Non profit organizations like the diaspora support services for Kenyans are helping immigrants make the best out of what they have got in a country like the United States. Whether you are there to study or in hope to find the American dream, you will now be able to adjust better than the old days.

But then there are just so much about being a foreigner in America no less, that you have to deal with. People would love you, people will persecute you for sharing their resources. That is reality, and you have to face it. It is part of the challenge of building an American dream, as a Kenyan.

Even if they are just here to study or get a short vacation away from Kenya, they too, have needs. America, the land of the free has been a goal setter for any individual in foreign lands across the globe. They see it as a place of never ending opportunities, dollars aside.

You would feel out of place, yes. Culture shock, you cannot avoid that, but hey, it gets better. Gone are the days when you feel inclined to go behind every line, just because of where you came from. Never feel inferior, when you know you can have access to the resources that the government provides for everyone.

With the growth of people doing this, the rate of money transfer channels also improves high profit rates. This then helps build your country more. Imagine being able to contribute to that, just by being in the diaspora. Of course, it cannot exist without the assistance of the support service. They are the ones, usually behind it.

Because that is what you need. Imagine how it would be, living a life somewhere else, where nobody knows who you are, nobody to talk to. It would be hard to cope up with the changes that comes with a decision like this. So then the support of these organizations will be helpful for you to adjust. It would not be an overnight adjustment, but you will get there.

It can even be overwhelming. Manage your expectations. Nothing is ever going to be easy. Especially when you have nothing in common with majority of the people in the community. Then again, since these services exist, you would be taken care of, in terms of coping up with the changes of moving there.

So live the dream by knowing the best way how to give back to your homeland when you are already on the rise. Do not be afraid to be with people who share the same ideals. No matter your race, your determination to make it, will be your best armor. Even in the diaspora, dreams can get real and turn big.
