Content Marketing Tips

By Carlyle Randel

It's not enough to just create content anymore. To really stand out, content needs to be dynamic, interactive, and timely. Interactive content might take the form of a poll or survey on an industry trend, or a contest for a new tagline or new product idea. Interactive content creates value in the interaction itself, actively earning the disclosure of lead information instead of passively requesting it. For any company doing business online, people expect an engaging experience.

Interactivity on websites has always been effective, but with social media being so widely used now, it's become crucial. Creating interesting and engaging experiences online is a necessity. Whether people are engaging on Facebook, Twitter, a website, in an email, or on a blog, people will share relevant information based on the value of their interactions.

Conversations are usually the best way to build relationships. They naturally establish connections built on trust and respect as both parties share and relate interests, goals, perspectives and other relevant information. After the results of surveys or polls are examines, the company can solicit further information from the client or customers, and then can deliver a better product or service.

Studies have shown that collaborative content is a very productive method of getting sales leads. Different departments of your company can collaborate and Quality Assurance can partner with Project Management on a video, or Engineering and Sales can do a blog together. When all departments contribute their knowledge, content will be much more informative. As teams begin collaborating and sharing information, the environment evolves into a culture of learning. These professionals can brainstorm and find new solutions and marketing ideas, as well as research the projects to increase accuracy, and to critique each other's content to improve it. Because of the speed of play that comes with a culture of collaborating, learning, teaching, listening and communicating, the environment breeds a mentality of continual improvement.

If the different departments don't get involved with the content marketing plans in a company, there is a big chance the campaign will fail. That's a huge challenge. There can be problems that arise when trying to orchestrate all of the different departments during content marketing content creation.

The personas of your buyers should be carefully considered, and the strategy should be coordinated in order to facilitate this, and that will make content marketing more effective which will result in more sales leads. The benefits of good buyer personas are more effective lead generation and customer retention. Well-designed offers and engaging content is highly beneficial, so take time in researching and having a solid understanding of who your customers are.

Sales enablement, segmentation, the prioritization of marketing investments, and messaging plus targeting are all important aspects that relate to buyer personas. Content marketing will be the most effective when buyer personas are carefully created.
