Cons Of Using Teleform Systems

By Kathy Kaufman

Teleform is a technology developed to assist the companies with multiple data be able to easily capture their information, validate the in formation, and safely store the information. The information that is to be teleformed could be in the form of images, whereby this technology would scan the images, mathematical data could also be transformed, and the most unique one is that this technology could also be able to recognise symbologies of different countries.

The device was first invented in the year 1991. It was basically made to read information sent via different media such as fax, paper and different forms of electronic means. Challenges faced by people in their day to day lives makes them open their eyes wider so as to find easier ways to work, leading to the development of technology. Hewlett Packard company reflects this as they are the ones that first came up with the digital idea, that simplified their work.

This technology works in a very simple manner. It basically depends on other means of technologies in order for it to read the data, this shows the interdependence in technological services. The Optical Mark Reading (OMR) is one of the forms of technology that these devices depends on. Optical Mark Reading is the predecessor of the photo scanner. Digitalisation of data entered in paper form is done by this application. It is reliable and holds more information per sheet.

However, it is not only optical mark recognition that is required by teleform to support its functioning, but also other forms of optical technologies such as the Optical Character Recognition. This technology assists in the interpretation of say letters in paper form. We also have the Intelligent Character Recognition which is almost similar to the former. Finally we have the Bar Code Recognition.

Many functions can be performed by the device. One of them is to do with image scanning. They also gives users the chance to make any corrections on the documents during review before storage. Forms that are used by the machine in reading are also created by teleform. However it comes in most handy in the reading of data presented to it the uses the required database as the storage.

There are both advantages and disadvantages of this system. It is very fast in the transmission of date and this therefore boosts the supplier customer relationship. It is way too cheap since no document is sorted manually which is a very expensive way of sorting documents. The papers are also kept in very safe databases as their store and thus the business is very safe as well as the papers themselves. Productivity is the other key factor that will be enhanced if the manual sorting is kicked off since it wastes much time and the workers would focus on other important jobs.

In most cases advantages have their own disadvantages too. The system is electronic based thus people who were doing the sorting work manually remain jobless if their company decides to apply this technology. Such people would curse technology for claiming their jobs. In this sense, they would consider technology wicked.

Teleform, its history, its functioning, advantages and disadvantages have been explained above. All one needs to do now is to consider the greatness that this technology comes with, and change the way in which their organisation operates. This would simply happen with the change from manual to teleform, which is more of digital.
