News Apps Reviews for Blackberry

By Michael Raja

We shall be taking a view at 4 different news programs that are here on the Blackberry App World for free. We shall be looking at both the pros and cons of each and that should permit you to make a conscious call. The Blackberry is a really popular business tool, not just among enterprise users, but a lot of small and medium businesses use it too. As a device that is always in your pocket, it is worth having one or two programs which will keep you informed as well as entertained, without having the IT support fellows at work worry too much about it.

Viigo

The positive points to using Viigo is that it has the capability to plug in stories from countless sources, even from podcasts and social media sites. It has also got the capability of many programmes rolled up into one, and it is designed with Blackberry screens under consideration. There are some negatives however, for example it's got a huge software footprint, it is a resource hog, and it can shorten battery lifespan if left running in the background.

AP Mobile

This is a pretty dashing looking app. It's been published by a trusted source (Associated Press), and has the ability to view stories photo streams. It is however awfully US targeted, and has limited worldwide coverage. It also sses a large amount of RAM.

Time Mobile

This is another handsome app, and brings a mag like feel to Blackberry. It also has an entertainment stream, and there are a lot of top of the range articles. The app does suffer when viewed on low-resolution screens, and it can look terribly busy. It also suffers from the same ailment AP Mobile has, in which it is very US centric in its reports.

Bloomberg Mobile

Now everyone using the Bloomberg app would expect it to have tons of helpful financial reports, which naturally it does. It also offers beautiful charts and graphs of financial news, and it updates intensely fast and accurately. There are however some disadvantages. It isn't so nice if you have little need for finance news, and it could be a touch heavy on resources on low end Blackberry devices. At the time of writting the app does have some bugs also.

Hopefully this clears some some of the bewilderment and lets you make an informed decision.
