Paid Blogging: What It Is And How To Get Started

By Lucinda Watrous

Paid blogging is a concept that many freelance writers are getting into. If you are a good writer here at Associated Content, then consider running a blog too, if you are not doing so already. The downside is that many paid blogging jobs require a pre-established blog with good readership and a nice Google page rank. So, instant money from blogging is not really a possibility, but if you want to get into it, start a blog now, and maintain it well over the next 90 days.

To build a good readership, advertise your blog with blog networks, use good keywords and submit it to search engines. Update the blog frequently, and do not disappear on your audience. For more on blogging and getting started, search the internet and keep your eyes out on another article from me.

Many websites will pay you to write reviews or advertise a product or service on your blog. Some popular ones are payperpost.com, and reviewme.com. The downside to blogging for money is that Google will remove the page ranking you usually need to be noticed with services like that, so I believe that the new practice will soon be ignoring the page rank. Some blogging platforms, like Blogger will allow you to place Google AdSense on your blog to earn you a few pennies. Others, like Wordpress, will not allow it, and frown upon advertising. Lesson here is to be careful when choosing your blog platform, and do your research. You can also host your blog on its own domain to make it easier to remember for potential traffic and repeat visitors.

If you are interested in other blogging jobs, take a look at problogger.com, blogjobs.com, or myzip.net. The first two sites will allow you to surf through blog writer jobs and apply. MyZip will give you your own blog to maintain for a set rate of $50/month, but there are some requirements to follow. For other paid blogging resources, check out WAHM.com's forum, and FreelanceWritingGigs.com. WAHM.com's forum topic also holds some valuable information on blog promotion and getting set up.

While you it is possible to earn money for your blogging efforts, it is important to remember that you will not get rich quick. It is by no means a full-time income. It will take lots of work and nurturing to see anything come out of it, but watching your efforts turn into something is worth it for sure. Most importantly, always have fun with your blogging, inform, and entertain your readers, while entertaining yourself.
