Even routers classified in the mid-range still cost between 75,000 and 100,000 USD. This is a lot of money that most small shops and companies cannot afford. That is why if one cannot afford new high-end or mid-range models of these machines, they should opt for used or second hand ones. Buying a refurbished machine is another good way of managing the risks. Refurbishing a piece of equipment involves dismantling it to the core before it is rebuilt back up. Refurbishing cannot be done to all machines. For a machine to be refurbished, it must be of high quality with unique features. Part of refurbishing involves having the chassis and gantry repainted and sandblasted.

Other tasks involved in refurbishing are having all parts inspected and replaced if necessary. After inspection, replacement, and reassembly of the machine, it is tested thoroughly. By the time the machine gets out of the refurbishing facility to be sold, it is almost as good as new.

Refurbished machines can be bought from companies that deal with refurbishing, from dealers, or from original manufacturers. The best option is to buy from original manufacturers. Similarly, if one has a machine that is failing, they can have the manufacturer rebuild it from the ground up.
