By Tammie Caldwell

Nursing has remained to be a relevant occupation despite the economic difficulties being experienced worldwide. Labor shortage in the field has been on the rise and some measures are being put in place to ensure continued labor supply. The salaries of those in this field are also termed to be among the best. We take a deeper look into what determines the salary of nurse anesthetist.

One of the determinants is the years of experience in the field. The more the years, the more the salary is likely to be. This is so since working in a specific field for a long period of time greatly increases the expertise and the know-how of handling duties. Also the most experienced are the ones considered in times of a demanding task at hand.

Location also matters when it comes to the salary. Working in hardship areas such as war stricken areas where a nurse have to put their lives in danger means that they have to be well paid. The salaries are enhanced by allowances offered such as hardship and travel allowances. Working in such areas requires a lot of sacrifice and sell will and better pay is therefore in order.

The level of education of a nurse determines quite a number of things among them their salary. Those with more education are on occasions promoted to new ranks which go hand in hand with increase in pay. Also the more learned a professional is means that they have lots of skills and expertise in field and are in a position to handle cases that are considered critical.

The industry a nurse is offering their services to will determine the amount of pay they receive. The task involved while working on a referral hospital cannot be compared to while working at a clinic. A hospital requires a lot of attention due to the number of cases it handles in a day increasing the work load. A clinic on the other hand is expected to handle fewer cases depending on size.

The number of hours a nurse works in a day is considered when it comes to the salaries. Working on extra hours has to be compensated in terms of pay. At times emergencies happen when less expected. The nurses on duty have the obligation to offer their services even if it is overnight until the matter is in full control. The commitment is rewarded through a notable increase in salary.

The areas of specialty will determine the task a nurse is in a position to handle. Some of the nurses have a number of specialties in different areas under the same field. This means that they can comfortably offer anesthetist services alongside others. Their pay is mostly more compared to the others due to this ability.

The organization a nurse is working under will also determine the salary they get. Working with big and notable organizations such as the United Nations is considered a privilege since the nurse is able to offer their services worldwide. The said workers are also most likely enjoying a good pay compared to those working with organization surviving on small budgets.
