How Portable Restrooms Have Evolved Over Time

By Sally Delacruz

Whether planning a major affair or completing a long-term construction job, it is vital to have the necessary bathroom accommodations on hand. For this reason, portable restrooms are incredibly popular. These units are movable and thus, they can be taken away as soon or a project or event has reached its end.

A lot of people see these as being very basic design and absent of amenities and comfort. While there are certain a number of inexpensive and basic models to secure, these units have evolved quite a bit throughout the years. They know offer a luxurious range of options that people can enjoy.

This is best seen in the new executive style toilets that are currently being offered. These are perfect when businesses host large events outdoors and need to find a way to impress their guests. Units like these have a lot of interior space, functional sinks and lighting and many other features that can be specific to gender such as wall-mounted urinals.

Executive bathrooms can also come with several stalls. Rather than being a single unit that will accommodate just one person at a time, these will have several individual areas so that multiple people can be in the unit at once. These help to prevent long lines and crowding. These units are also great for people who feel crowded or claustrophobic when using a smaller and more conventional design.

Sometimes larger parties will need to secure features that are designed to meet the needs of groups that have compromised mobility as well as provide accommodations for people of varying ages. For example, it is important to have units that can be accessed by those who are in wheelchairs. These have ample room and grab bars for moving safely and easily from mobile chairs to toilets.

Other designs have baby changing stalls. These are usually complete changing stations that women can use to safely diaper their little one. The shelves pull out and have restraints so that infants do not topple off. Dispensers can be wall-mounted that have liners for these shelves. There can even be additional dispensers that have wipes and diapers that are offered for a relatively nominal fee.

Facilities like these are essential for large crowds at big events but they are also needed by companies when working on ongoing construction projects. Using the bathrooms in a customer's home is highly unprofessional and rarely done in this industry. This is often a requirement for the work site that companies write into their job contracts.

There are some instances in which groups are required by law to have sufficient bathrooms available for their guest. When you must rent your own venue or when you start planning an outside event, it is always good to learn what the related requirements are for these facilities. This will help you to choose affordable options and to make sure that there are sufficient units available for accommodating all parties.
