What can be said about Charlie Sheen that hasn't been said before in the past year or so? To put it simply, the man is a loose cannon that the entire world has made a crack towards at least once. The former co-star of "Two and a Half Men" has shown a wild streak that's made him an Internet sensation, though many will argue that it's for the wrong reasons. WWE seems to have taken note of this much later on and he's become a subject of theirs. However, is Charlie Sheen beneficial towards the company's social media marketing?
Does anyone truly care about Charlie Sheen anymore other than the people who operate WWE? If you ask me, the company could have built up their social media marketing by using any other figure, preferably one with some relevance. However, I am of the opinion that Sheen's Internet popularity piqued during mid-2011 and his appeal fizzled out overtime. A strong online marketing firm like fishbat would agree that relevancy is everything, in the world of celebrities or otherwise, so Sheen seems like a questionable choice for the wrestling conglomerate to use.
Sheen's relevancy in the social media world as we know it may be lacking but what's just as absent is his interest in WWE. Many people in the company seem to be like that, such as the seemingly bored Jerry "The King" Lawler whenever he commentates. I'll go as far as to say Sheen's indifference is more potent, as if he's talking like a news reporter whose only know-how about wrestling is how a body slam works. You shouldn't hire a person if they don't show a modicum of care about the product.
Recently, there have been a few rumors floating around the Internet that Sheen will somehow be involved in Summerslam, WWE's grand show of the summer. When it comes to celebrities and pay-per-view events, there is either a hit or a miss to be had. A hit would be something like Mr. T joining forces with Hulk Hogan at the first WrestleMania back in 1985. A miss can be an event such as Snooki being featured in the same event twenty-five years later. WWE, with total control of the match card, can potentially make ticket-holders regret their purchase.
I honestly hope that Sheen doesn't have any part of SummerSlam that involves him being featured at the expense of others. There are wrestlers who travel without any form of substantial rest and for someone else to come in and garner time they haven't earned is pretty insulting, in my mind. Even in something as simple as social media, I have my issues. Sheen isn't so wild anymore as he is old news and his fifteen minutes being up will undoubtedly show itself come August 19th at SummerSlam.
