Architects offer services that are associated with building designs. They also help in designing of spaces around buildings. Buildings designed by these professionals are meant for people to occupy. During undergraduate degree, students cover topics such as computer-aided design and drafting, building and construction, and architectural theory and history.

Having a degree in a different discipline, for example, construction management still makes one to be viable to enroll for a master of Architecture degree. Those who possess a bachelor degree in architecture and prefer to gain more expertise may also enroll for the same program. Design theory, historic preservation and solar design are sub-disciplines that such kind of individuals may specialize in.

The duration is takes to complete a Master of architecture is dependent on several factors like prior level of experience, and training in this field. Generally, it takes between 1 to 5 years to earn bachelor degree in architecture. Holders of bachelor degree in architecture may earn a master degree in this field within 2 years. On the other hand, it takes up to 3 years for holders of degrees in different fields to earn a master degree.

It is a licensing requirement that applicants after completing necessary academic requirements must complete a 3 year paid internship in order to be eligible for licensure. The other requirement is taking and passing an architect registration test. Failing the test demands a retake. Interns work under close supervision of seasoned architects and assist in writing specs, designing projects and building models, and preparing CADD drawings.

Pursuing continuing education is also a requirement for those who are licensed to keep their licenses. That means that a licensed architect must seek opportunities to learn more about their field. Learning may be undertaken in the form of workshops, conferences, and classes.
