Database marketing has been applied since the 1980s. However, it had not penetrated into all sectors of the economy. The advancement of technology and data explosion witness, over the recent years, elevated the importance of database marketing. Basically, it is the process of collecting, classifying, and analyzing information of customers of a particular organization. The information is diverse in nature because they are collected from varying sources which include social media, email correspondence, sales information, warranty cards and promotional efforts. Our focus on this article is healthcare database marketing and its benefits.

Health care is one of the industries with a high volume of information. This could range from patient records to staff related information. Considering these dynamics, it makes sense to have a proper marketing database in order to operate efficiently. This makes it easier for the facilities to advance treatments and monitor patients. Similarly, patients can also easily seek assistance from relevant staff.

Use of databases in healthcare has not only improved efficiency but also reduced the cost. For instance, it is easier to send patients prescriptions to a pharmacy without having to put anything on paper. Likewise, a patient does not have to visit a medical facility to get some services such as making appointments or picking test results. All of them can be done from the system. This will save on transportation cost as well as saving time they would have used to do other things.

In addition to the above, the government will have an easy time managing the health care system. The government will be able to introduce uniformity by keeping all the hospitals and similar organizations in a single database. On top of this, it is also possible to keep patient information in one database for easier attendance. So, doctors will take less time attend to patients since they will no longer have to go through volumes of files to find the relevant information. Through systems alerts, doctors can be notified of patients' conditions.

In addition to the above, it is also possible for the patients to get to know their conditions on time. This makes it easy for them to interact with care providers such as nurses and doctors about potential treatments they may need.

Every year, there is an increasing number of older patients that need assistance. This put pressure on existing caregivers because they cannot meet the demand. But through technology, it is possible to connect caregivers and patients, which often stay at home. The seniors in need of immediate assistance can be serviced by home nurses within the locality. It is also possible for the government to send systems alerts to care providers in all parts of the country.

In addition to the above, doctors are also able to attend to their patients from wherever they are. Sometimes, it can be challenging when a doctor has to visit all the patients in different facilities. This means also that patients can communicate with the doctors through the internet. There are other ways in which patients can also manage their health, for instance, health-related applications.

Finally, it is not possible to solve all the health challenges through database marketing. There are some areas that it has not help to create a major impact. But generally, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. For optimum impact, all the stakeholders should collaborate to make use of such information in improving healthcare delivery.
