Three Shoulder Gun Kydex Holster Buying Hints For Paintball Fans

By Jeffrey Butler

If you are a gun enthusiast, who is looking for holsters. You will find that the market offers you a lot of choices. There are just too many styles and designs to look at that the search can end up being a bit confusing. So to make the entire process a little bit easier for you, here are some tips that you can keep in mind to help you land the perfect kydex holster for your gun.

My paint ball gear consists of a very nice and accurate paintball marker pistol, a shoulder gun holster and my main weapon of choice - a close quarters paintball marker. I admit that I paid a lot of attention to the markers and never really paid much attention to the rest of my gear, especially my shoulder gun holder. Please do not make the same mistake or you will regret it later.

It should be noted that although the different quality of materials are available for the holders, leather is considered to be the best choice. Also, look for the holder that is neatly stitched. The holder should have high quality dying as well as tanning. For example, Motorola MC55/MC65 Holders have all such features. Thus you can go for it blindly.

The second type is also a vertical position model but with the barrel facing upward. Again, this is not a very comfortable position for me. And again, most do not agree with what I say. The third type is the horizontal position model, with the barrel facing back.

Also, see to it that the holder is light in weight. If the holder is lightweight, then you will feel no irritation in carrying. However, if it is heavyweight, then you might be irritated carrying all along your journey. In this regard, Intermec CN50 Holders are very light in weight.

Get the appropriate fit for your gun. The thing with simple or western gun holders is that they do not come in a one size fits all deal. They are usually made to fit a specific type of gun. This means that if you own two types of gun, say a. 45 and a. 38 caliber, for example, you may need to buy one holder for each.

Access- Good shoulder holders are held in place by the shoulder as well sternum straps. I prefer holders without flaps as I feel it impedes access to the marker as well as slows down re-holdering. Another factor which affects re-holder ease is the flexibility of the holder itself. If the holder is too flexible, it cannot retain its shape, and you would need two hands to return the marker to its original position.

Again, if you have your eyes on leather holders, expect that the holder may be too tight initially. But as you work your gun in and out of it, it will eventually conform to your gun's size. Those are three simple tips that you can work on. As long as you follow them, you can be sure to land the perfect holder for your priced gun.
