Crafting A Simple Bridal Bouquet

By Ryker Crogan

Wedding is an auspicious occasion for everyone concerned and the bridal bouquet should add charm to the bride in the ceremony. It takes about twenty five to forty minutes to make a simple bridal bouquet 8 inches in diameter with 35 to 65 sterns. A typical bridal bouquet is dome shaped that ought to enhance most of the wedding gowns. In the upcoming paragraphs, the 4 simple steps to make a bridal bouquet would be briefed.

The main requirements for creating a Bridal Bouquet are 30 to 60 stems of a hardy flower like the rose (20 to 40 for each bridesmaid bouquet), Bucket, Paper towels, Ribbon (in a complementary color), 1 to 2 inches wide, Rubber bands or green waxed floral tape, Stem cutter or very sharp knife, Stem stripper and Straight pins or pearl-tipped corsage pins.

Step 1 is to prepare the flowers. You can use your hands or a stem stripper to remove excess foliage and thorns, and pull off damaged or unattractive outer petals. Then, a sink or bucket is filled with water and while holding the stems underwater, the stem cutter or knife is used to cut the stems at an angle about 2 inches from the bottom. Thereafter, the flowers are allowed to drink for a few seconds with the stem ending underwater, then the stems are placed in a bucket filled halfway with cool water until they are ready to be used. Knot Note: If you're working with roses and the heads aren't open yet, you can force the blooms open by placing the stems in a bucket of hot water; but only do this for a couple of minutes just before you are going to use the roses, or you might kill them otherwise. Keep the stems long while you work with them and trim them to a shorter length when you've finished constructing the bouquet.

Step 2 is to assemble the Flowers. One stem at a time is taken with one hand, and the other hand is used to hold the flowers in place. Then, four flowers are assembled at an even height in a square shape as these will be at the center of the dome. Thereafter, the other flowers are arranged one by one around the center flowers to create a dome shape. Knot Note: To better see what the bouquet will look like in your hand, stand in front of a mirror as you construct the bouquet to observe how the shape is progressing.

After assembling one needs to secure the bridal bouquet. A floral tape or a rubber band is tied at an appropriate spot to fix the stems. Similar procedure is done near the end of the stem leaving a buffer of 2 inches stems, which ought to be taken care of when the final finishing is performed.

The concluding step is to finish the handle. The objective of this step is to make sure that the flowers are in harmony with each other and that no extra part of the stem is hanging aloft. Unless this step is performed meticulously the bridal bouquet won't appear beautiful no matter how stunning and attractive the flowers may be. The matching ribbon is finally used to wrap the flowers. This bridal bouquet is kept at a cool temperature so that the decay of the flowers can be avoided.
