Hints For Buying Outdoor Tvs With Custom Outdoor TV Covers

By Dawn Williams

A new rage among home owners trying to add useful accessories to their homes is installing outdoor tvs in their yards with custom outdoor TV covers to keep them safe from the elements. It is important to understand all the differences between inside use televisions and outside use televisions. It is also important to understand why a cover will not only protect but is necessary to use for longevity. Read on because some of the answers may be surprising.

Buying an outside TV can be quite costly, in fact it could be up to 10 times more expensive than an equal sized inside TV. Many people will try to use these interchangeably, but it often a poor idea. Realistically TV's constructed to use outside are made differently than those constructed to use inside.

The biggest issue outside televisions have to overcome is not necessarily keeping out the rain and snow, rather it is the working temperature range. A good cover will protect them from the elements as well as the sun's harmful rays. So the issue is keeping them operating within this rather small temperature range. The easiest way to do this is to keep the heat out.

When this temperature begins to swing up and down painful things begin happening to most electronic systems. The falling temperatures cause condensation to form, this small moisture may cause shorts to happen on important parts. Icy temperatures could affect how well and long LCD's will continue to operate. Higher temperatures could damage the LCD or glass on most tv's.

Most outside tv's have a wider working range of temperatures. Most also have larger fans built inside them to help keep them cooled off so they do not overheat and break down. Another interesting feature they typically possess is a small heating system. This is to help stop condensation from forming as they heat up and cool off. These heating systems help to maintain stable temperatures even in colder weather.

Sometimes people will try using a regular tv outside. This may be possible, but is never a long term answer. Generally they are not constructed to take the ongoing abuse from outside usage. If you do plan on trying this, your best available option would be trying a movable cart to put it back inside when you are finished. Realistically this is a short term solution at best and chances are the set will ultimately fail to remain working.

No one watches tv 24 hours a day. This is why having a quality cover is so important. Many covers can be ordered custom made for your application. They not only keep out the different types of moisture from your set but they also protect them from harmful uv rays from the sun.

Finding the correct custom outdoor TV covers and outdoor tv could be a difficult process. The web is a great ally discovering information on various products. Research as much as you can before spending your money buying your finishing touches to a perfect home.
