Internet Business - The One Advice You Really Must Listen To

By David Lim

Just google the term "automated marketing systems" and pick one of the sites that come up. Visit the site, understand their business and register. Pay the membership fee required, and follow the instructions given to you to a T. Soon, within weeks, or months, you will be rich and have an online business to boot.

Okay, that's just about the worst advice anyone could give you. I threw that in just for the fun of it. :) And to get you thinking - not all advice are created equal. Anybody can give you advice, but is it the correct advice?

So, what advice can I provide that you really must listen to?

Find A Reliable Guide

You can always start from the basics, but it will be so much easier if you have somebody who has already done it to coach you. Make sure you take your time and find somebody you can listen to and work well with.

Great Content

You can't go wrong with great content. Web surfers might not be the most intelligent bunch of people you can find, but I'm going to bet my bottom dollar that they can smell crap a mile away. They have the luxury of millions of other sites, so really, anything other than great content is just not going to do.

Build Up A Mailing List

A mailing list has been touted to be the way to riches on the web. While this might not be true in all cases, a mailing list with highly targeted, responsive prospects is a great asset to any business.

And, in conclusion....

There is no advice that will work for anybody and everybody. So, the best advice that I can give you is to take what others are telling you with a large grain of salt and simply trust in yourself.

There is a lot of difference between knowing that the best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat right, and actually carrying it out successfully. The advice you get about making money on the web is no different. Knowing it, and doing it successfully are two completely different things.

Consider article marketing. There are many different ways to carry out this technique, but the common thread would be that you have to write a lot of articles within a short period of time.

The ebook giving you this advice will tell you that anybody can do it but I beg to differ. I doubt that just anybody can write a few articles a day that is of sufficient quality that a web surfer will want to visit the writer's site and buy something. In fact, that article might not even be accepted into the article directories.

Other advice that you get will have their focus on other skill sets. Joint venturing would need some networking skills, or something to do with building and selling websites might need some graphics expertise, or some copywriting skills might be required for successful affiliate marketing.

Fact of the matter is that nobody will be able to tell you how you can run your Internet business successfully. Even if they have done it before, there is no guarantee that you can duplicate their success by simply replicating their methods as there are a lot of other variables involved.

Your business is about you, your website, your talents and your resources. By all means listen and learn from all the advice that you get out there. But at the end of the day, it is just advice. You and you alone will have to decide how to put it all together for a successful business.
