Due to the influx of unemployed, the job boards have become cluttered with people looking to find their next high paying career.
With so many people online, the scams have started to follow. It is often a long and arduous process just to find a legitimate opportunity. Remember the old addage "its not what you know, its who you know?" We need to start putting that to use for us again in these trying times.
So how do we do this? Simple, by taking a moment to jot down a list of anyone who we can attempt to leverage. Anyone is fair game, as long as they will take at least a call from you.
Ok, so now you have the list. The next step is putting that list to work and getting in touch with each of these people. Take a moment and think about how to approach each person as they will all be different dependign on the realationship.
No text messages or emails in this part. You are going to be asking these people for a favor, so you will want to place a call or meet each one of these people in person.
Be polite with the person's time just as you would in a professional setting. Be clear about what you are looking for and why you choose to speak with them.
Be sure to ask them if they could put you in touch with someone or check into open positions for you. Be specific and then set a follow up date.
The method just outline has proven to be the quickest way to get interviews and quality leads quickly.
